That it's NOT a livery yard LOL

What's most important to me on a private yard?
distance from home, facilities, and there being no-one to nick my stuff. In that order. price doesnt come into it.

Out ot those friendliness, but if all thats had I wouldnt be interested. The most important thing to me is how a yard is managed. You could have the best facilities round the corner but it doesnt necessarily make for a good yard

I cant stand liveries! the most important thing for me out of those however was friendliness, as if im not happy then i avoided spending time there which meant i lost time with ponyio! cant do whatever i like now as have my own

Exactly!

Top of my list is year round turnout and security. Closely followed by everything else listed above.

Distance from home and facilities (including grazing etc) other than that I don't care I'm down late most nights and I keep myself to myself mostly... As long as my horse is happy then so am I!

***You are so right there as i found out.*****

Good yard managment is so important if you are on livery you have to trust the person you leave your horses with.

We have just bought a hosue and yard so will learn from the bad yards i have been on how not to do it...

When I first came to uni I had my horse with the most amazing facilities (new olympic size arena, unbeatable hacking and a fab xc course) but it was a 15min drive and the YO was unbearable. If the YO had been more helpful I wouldn't have minded the distance because the original arrangement was that she would turn out or bring in so I only had to go once a day. In the end I moved because I wasn't enjoying doing my horse knowing my every move was being watched.

I moved to a yard 5mins away with an absolutely lovely yard owner, nothing is too much trouble. The facilities were lacking when I first went there (no school, just walker and hacking) but there is now a 1km exercise track which is fantastic. The best part is the price, I'm paying £48 per month instead of £155

facilities
more in the way- is the place safe and well maintained?im really picky about the turnout-the ground, fencing and amount f grass, also need a big stable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I totally agree with you!

rules would be a biggie for me, my last yard anyone could do as they pleased when they pleased and really peeed me off, my new yard has rules, we have to follow these rules, but at least everyone is treat the same.
