Yards without electricity

How do you cope? Would love to hear your top tips or the make of any good generator/torches

Generator and head torch are your friend. Our latest genny is a Clarke's one and I am not pleased with it, or their aftersales service. Jury is still out on it. The best genny we had was a little cheap 2 stroke from B&Q but sadly it got stolen.
We have an el cheapo caravan with a gs ring in it and a little gas heater which is excellent for a warm up if you get wet and cold.

A 12v lighting system run off of a deep cycle (caravan) battery. There is a sticky thread in horse care and feeding (used to be stable yard) that I started explaining how I set mine up.

Been in place four years now and still brilliant.

As above - 12v battery lighting with solar chargers - been using those since mid 1980's & still going strong.
I have updated the lights for more modern LED's in recent years tho
