My mare has ela Mana Moo in her breeding, her sire is double trigger, She is a event horse with welton crackerjack on the other side. She is v smart, big build but has been quiet slow to develop and can be very quirky. Prob not much help sorry.

You were a big help actually, because by putting double trigger in allbreedpedigree its bought up Ela Mana Moo... it wasn't coming up before because they have put his name in with hyphens

thankies

She is actually really sweet as is her 3/4 brother (same sire) but they can both be abit bolshy to ride, sweet to do and in the stable though.

My husband was riding one of his sons in a race and his horse bit the ankle of one of the other jockey's while at a flat gallop, he got banned from the track for doing it again with another jockey in his next race.

OMG i really dont think she would do anything like that but if some one is nasty to her she will not let them any where near her. It is always very interesting to hear about horses from the same blood lines though.

Can you tell me anything else about him cruiseline??

As I said, I have known quite a lot of his offspring, and nearly all of them were quirky or just down right nasty. He was a tough cookie himself. I will ask the OH for any more info as he is the racing person not me.

well done Ouija board i was just gong to mention that. i used to work for Airlie where he stood. the name is greek and basically means come here my darling ( I am greek btw) and he was a champion miler who just about got ten furlongs and sired some decent horses. he has become sonmething of a broodmare sire since his death, there are plenty good racehorses out of ela mana mou mares. I seem to recall he was by habitat (i will have to find my stud book) which is where the temper will come from although i wouldnt have said ours were the worst for temper not by a long shot. I will go see if i can find my old pictures of the horse and his off spring but it was a while ago!! x

Interesting to hear what the name actually means! I heard that his son Double Trigger was known for taking chunks out of his stable lads and that people could not even get into the stable with him? Not sure if that is true tho-it sounds as tho EMM was a lot better?

right he was by pitcairn also a miler and quite sharp. he mananged to win the king george over a mile and a half but i am fairly sure ten furlongs was his best distance.

I think Ela Mana Moo ran in the Derby I am sure he started favourite or very short-priced but was beaten by whom I don't remember. Perhaps someone else knows?

Ela - Mana - Mou born 1976 was probably one of the bargains of the 20th Century . He cost only 4,500 gns. as a yearling , but when he retired as a 4 yr old he had won 10 of his 16 races collecting £286,581 in prize money .

This was not all for the same owners though, as he was bought by the partnership of Tim Rogers and the Weinstock family for a reputed £500,000 after his second season.

He won 4 out of 5 of his juvenile starts and as a 3 year old came a creditable fourth in the Epsom Derby.
He also had a decisive victory in the King Edward V I I Stakes at Ascot. His purchase by his new owners the following winter paid off in real style.
Ela - Mana - Mou began by winning the Earl of Sefton Stakes at Newmarket , then the prince of Wales's Stakes at Ascot , before gaining the 2 most important successes of his career . He captured the Eclipse by three quarters of a length from Hello Gorgeous and won the King George V1 and Queen Elizabeth Stakes by the same three quarters of a length from Mrs Penny . He also finished third in the Prix de L'Arc de Triomphe .

He went to stud at the end of that season and sired top winners like Double Trigger and his brother Double Eclipse , Snurge and Eurobird.

He is an unqualified influence for stamina , transmitting characteristics passed down by the likes of Alycidon . What is clearly evident is that Ela - Mana - Mou is capable of siring horses that stay considerably further than the 6 to 12 furlongs that he used to race over , with a significant concentration of Cup , Classic and staying Stakes winners. Of a sample of 242 winning performances of Ela - Mana - Mou's progenies , 151 won at 11 furlongs or more , 138 have won at 12 furlongs or more and no less than 80 have won over 14 furlongs or more.
