We used to live near there so did the ride last year hoping it might go over some nice fields that usually have cows in - but it didnt! It is flinty round there, so although there is some cantering on grass, it isnt great ground for faster work- and there were some jumps but generally they were portables. The countryside is fairly hilly so quite varied terrain, partly through woods. So in summary, perfectly well organised and friendly - but if you have heard of a brilliant one elsewhere I'd go for that...

thankyou very much for your reply, the other one ive heard of is Farleigh house, ive been told its great :) so i might take your advice as i havent really heard much of the yattendon, and only good on the farleigh! xx

I done it last year & must admit don't think I would rush to do it again. As Tanta said it was very well organised, but nothing really exciting the jumps were portable & my personal opinion they were pants. Turned out a lot of the ride is what I hack anyway, I only went as didn't have transport so could hack there some of the fields were nice that you could have quick blast through. I think it would be a good one to take a youngster to.

Last year was the first time that the Yattendon Ride was held. The ride is on a private estate that ha previously been inaccessible to riders which is why only temporary fences were available. Following the tremendous success of the ride the Estate have agreed to another ride this year and the Berks & Bucks Draghounds held one of their meets there last season.

Since then, the B&B have been extremely building permanent, solid timber fences which I am certain will not disappoint. Some revisions have also been made to the route taking out virtually all roadwork.

If you'd like to see photos of the route and the new fences check out the B&B Facebook page:

It's well worth taking a look at the Facebook page linked to above. There are a considerable number of new permanent jumps being put in place by the B&B Draghounds course builder, with jumps ranging from 1"9 to 3"3, catering for all ability levels. As has been said, the Yattendon Ride is only in its second year this year, around the Yattendon estate which has previously been unavailable to ride round by the general public.

The weather forecast is good for the weekend, there are lots of volunteers hoping to see happy riders enjoying our new jumps, so give it a go and see for yourself! It should be a great day out.

unfortunately i cannot now get transport :( so off dressaging on monday! such a shame- but definitely hope to be out at least once this season with the berks and bucks! had a great time when i last went! x
