Yawn.... Asty's first night

I have forgotten all about puppy's, lol. She cried and barked when we went to bed and when eldest son got up for a drink she barked the place down..... she is going to be an excellent guard dog :-)

Another huge poo (how much can come out of one small puppy!!!!) so she needs to know about gardens.

Then as front door opened she bolted for freedom. 500 yards up the road I ran in my dressing gown, resisting the urge to sound worried when I was calling her - that is harder said than done I can tell you. Then comical style she suddenly turned and doubled back past me back towards home and into next doors garden. She crouched and crept to me on her tummy, poor thing.

Honey is much more relaxed now with her, so its a time thing while she settles in with us. She desperately needs to get out and about which is a pain as she hasn't been vaccinated.
 
It's lucky they are so cute isn't it with all the work they are when they are younger. Of course, they are work when they are older too - but that's a different kind of work which hopefully doesn't interfere too much with sleep patterns (except those 5am weekday walks that is).
 
I bet that was a scary moment, sounds like she is very scared poor pup but I am sure she will come round with time. If Honey is confident with people and other dogs I would take them out together as soon as she is vaccinated. What is she like in the car, you could always take her for drives and park in fairly busy places so she just gets used to people around her. Its difficult when they are older than the baby pup stage as you can't carry them round to socialise, and people are more likely to come up and fuss a cute 10 week old pup than one thats beginning to look like a proper GSD. Its very early days and hopefully in a day or two she will realise that life isn't as bad as she fears.

Agree with MM, socialise, socialise, socialise when vaccs are done and maybe seek out a good training class?

Definitely sounds like she has working lines in her :p and yes, MORE PICS PLEASE!
 
I'd say without a doubt she has working lines in her. She is already ball obsessed and will bring back to you. She is good with people already even if a tad wary but friendly. She is however already an excellent guard dog and barks at the door. She is excellent in the car.

I've booked her into puppy classes and she can go straight after her first jab so should start next week and by then she should be more settled with us.

Honey is very outgoing with people and loves everyone. She is however bad on a lead and yells the place down when she sees another dog, even though she is good with other dogs. I think she is a bit full on for Asty right at this precise moment.

Asty all today has asked when she wants to go out so progress. No more huge poops in the house.
