I could honestly bounce around the room right now.
So, i've found a lovely 17hh warmblood/TB gelding 8y/o bright bay. Went to try him on friday and fell in love with him, despite his grumpy face pulling! (he is a grumpy git when there are more than 2 people around, but when you're on your own he's a real sweety and a bum nipper!) He's got a great jump and lovely big paces. He would easily event. He's done everything blah blah blah.
Yesterday: I rang the owner who is such a lovely person and had a real in depth chat. I go to boarding college on the 6th septmember and I'm taking a horse with me. We both agreed to bring the horse over to my livery yard the end of this week or early next week. When he arrives he's going to be vetted by my vet and is going to be on a loan agreement for a month before buying him. We've got the loan agreement fully typed up by a solicitor so all bases are covered. I'm going to insure him, re-do his vacs. (he's due this month) and then if everything goes right buy him. Both the owner and I are happy with this agreement. I'm so excited, and I do hope that I've devised a sensible way of buying a horse as the 1 month trial period will really let me get to know his quirks as he is a quirky one-person horse. I'm so hoping it all works out :) fingers uber crossed!
so here the big C aka Chester is:
P.S. I don't want to here any comments like 'you're too small for him' because i really don't need it.

He looks lovely :)

My only concern is you said he can be grumpy when more than a couple of people around and that he's a 1-person-horse. How will he/you get on at college, when they'll be loads of people around all the time? Maybe try and keep your yard as business as possible whilst he's on loan, so you can see what he's really like when surrounded.

But good luck and have loads of fun with him!

thanks everyone for your well wishes! i'm really excitedd :)
I'm off to queen ethelburgas college in york on a equestrian schloarship, so that should be exciting. In the stables, they only let students with horses around the stables or those who are horsey, so C shouldn't be too miffed by constant hoards of people! Hopefully, I'm going to event him if everything goes right and maybe some BSJA. he's already done some BSJA so he should guide me through! :D

Aw he's lovely.

Don't you ever let anyone tell you you're "too small", he's "too big" etc. To me size is only an issue if you have clearly over-horsed yourself, which clearly you haven't.

My first horse was 17.3hh. I am only 5ft2 and we have never had any safety issues, for me or him... I still have him and he is now a grumpy 27yr young man. :D

May you have many fabulous years together. :)

Congrats.....he is lovely and you look fab on him!

Im 5 ft 3 and usually ride 14.2hh's......am going to see a horse tonight that i might have on loan thats 16.2hh......eeek!!! im all set for the pea on a mountain jokes!!!

Hope you have a wonderfull time at QE's......i used to leave their adverts around all the time when i was younger hopeing that my parents would get the hint that i wanted to go there.....they never did.....booo!! have a fab time!

He's gorgeous! Enjoy every minute

(and don't worry about what might say - i went from a 17.1hh to my Just! 15hh cob and was so worried people would think i look underhorsed - funnily enough only person thinking that was me!)
