I'm lazy and going to post what I put up on Facebook. But I am so thrilled with him. This was an earlier school in his pre-season than we have done before but it felt like a smart idea to ask when he was not yet at 100% full gallop fitness over much lower jumps. And voila....Adjustability without all the burgeoning fit drama. YAY. And we simplified his bit. That was also a success and it pleases me to have a thin Myler single joint loose ring helping him. All in all a very cool start to the season.
We're playing it by ear to see where we come out first, there's a show I would like to do 5 weeks from now, but managing his fitness, body, and feelings will guide us to whatever is out there once he says it's time.
Enjoy the video!!! (It's TONS more nice to watch than some of the others you've all seen before. )

Cudo (
El Cuador "Cudo"
) and I had our first jump school today! Admittedly we're nowhere near fit and the jumps were only 2'3" (
) but he was so adjustable AND went awesome in a thin loose ring single joint Myler bit. Sure, Chad's been the one causing all the bit searches, but I wondered while trying to figure him out if maybe Cudo needed another chance to school with a milder bit. He's grown up a lot, and lord knows what he'll feel works best for him during a full height show, but today was awesome.

John did a great job videoing but then had to take a family call, so a lovely woman named Carrie who was really just in the indoor to ride, agreed to video the last half. I can't thank her enough and if anyone could tag her I'd really like to send her a gift.
These 6 mins are all the jumps we did. I truly couldn't be more thrilled and I'm shocked that my position is holding up after winter break. Though, full disclosure, I watched 2.5 hours of yesterday's Rolex CSI5* grand prix from Wellington after I did the barn this am. Motivated and psyched afterward doesn't really touch it. I wanted to be all the great riders as I was piddling around these tiny fences!
Enjoy the video!
