Quite inadvertently I've managed to acquire one of those half size freezers so I can try raw in earnest. I had only the little freezer box in the fridge previously so was quite limited in what I could feed. He is currently on Skinners in the morning (300g) with half a can of Pets At Home sporting canned food and a magnesium calmer (Naf Magic! The horse version is much cheaper to feed and works for him...) and a raw meal in the evening of 200-250g of one of the prize choice frozen minces (usually tripe) or half a Natures menu frozen block. I also get pet mince from the butcher.

I will ask my local butcher for more chickens necks etc now I have storage. Is there other places to buy frozen food online?

DAF are excellent if they deliver in your area - just google them.

I use Albion - they are the best/cheapest.

Berriewoods are excellent but slightly more expensive.

Landywoods are OK - quality can vary, but they are very cheap. Can be unreliable though. their chicken wings in particular can be a bit smelly - won't hurt the dogs, but you might object!

I use a man who supplies greyhound tracks. Comes in big plastic bags and I decant into ice-cream tubs, Celebrations tubs etc. Save a bit of money on the packaging and when I say whole minced chicken, it is a whole minced chicken, I see it go in one end of the machine and out the other!

If you live near Mansfield, notts there is "mega chicken" wings are £1.50 per kilo but then carcass are free and they are huge

Thanks for all the help - need to compare local and net prices now and work out what's best.

Manifold Valley Meats - lovely people, nothing is too much trouble, excellent quality and very reliable :)

ETA - sorry, just remembered you are in Ireland, scrap that idea! They deliver to Jersey but not to Ireland yet, sorry :(
