Here in Shrops we've got a few more nights of cold temps (down to 1deg tonight!) but I'm really hoping that the forecast for milder weather next week holds. Sunday or Monday night is "summer" for us!!! Can't wait, one of my lads is an absolute filthy pig in his stable overnight......
Even though my girl pretty much lives out 24/7 I have been there and its just wonderful when you leave them out, like you say especially after the winter we have had! My stable was only built last week so I could not stable her anyway, she did get stabled at my old yard alot through all that horrid snow!
I am hoping she will be rug free from tomorrow
It's great that it's warmer, although it's sods law that Ted has finally decided that he is happy to spend all day in the field-rather than the 20 minutes max he would spend out in winter, before not being able to cope; and now he's gone and got an abscess in his foot so has to be stabled. He is now going nuts as he wants to go out, I can't win!
I got mine out for a night last night, today its been raining most of day and bucketing down now so they are back in tonight - well I suppose one night was better than none !
Mine refused to come in last night (tues), so they stayed out! they came in for a few hours during the day to get them off the grass and then went back out naked till the wind picked up - then they had their rugs on and are very happy campers!!
Cant wait till mine is allowed out 24/7. The fields are still a bit too wet and need to dry out more. I think they are being rolled at the weekend again so hopefully in a couple weeks the YO will say they can stay out.
Ours are out tonight as well. We did try about 3 weeks ago, then the weather turned dreadful again so they came back in after one night. Fingers crossed that the forecast is right this time and they can stay out.
mine have been out since the 1st April, they are so so happy, as they were so sick of being stabled, they are still hayed, and stand at the rails, chewing on their hay!
Mine will be in at night untill early june till after she has foaled. more importantly i will be SO SO Pleased when the 112 cows go out !! No more yards, bedding up ect. worked out the other day have probably fluffed up about 100tons of straw this winter!!!
