Played polo yesterday at the schools polo in somerset- 3 hours drive down, 3 hours back!!!
got there and i had been asked to do it the night before so had to hire ponies, and as i had replced someone they give you a horse to meet your standards... cue me sitting on a donkey type
anyway, tried to get on with it, you know thinking that with other horses galloping around it will be fine. So are first chukka was pulled forward, they announced we should be on the pitch, we hadnt even tacked up, cue VERY HOT groom helping me
to tack up... ooo he was LOVERLY any hooow cantered on. All fine, rolled in the ball, horse wouldnt move
i was kicking it for all i was worth and it couldnt give a sh!t
finally got it going towards the truck and as i hit top speed- very slow one of our players fell off and broke her wrist. so we had to play 3 vs. 4 and we were seriouisly lacking in pony power... the lovely groom cam to watch me play and was in hysterics the whole way through
we lost 0-1 whch wasnt bad considering we were a player down and our hroses were very out matched... onto the 2nd chukka, lovely groom gave me a new horse as he said he didnt like to see me have to kick so much to even trot
this horse was the spare and slightly better, really quick, good stopping BUT was scared of galloping at other horses and next to other horses... hmm not great, but got on with it, lots of pony club kick
had to get the whip out onto it, we won 3-0 which was a much better chukka, much less rushed and we worked as a much better team, still 3 vs. 4 players
and onto the last chukka. we were playing my friends who i play with at home, and 2 of the players were in the A team aswell
seriously lack of pony power on our side, so we lost 3-0 but to be fair, we gave it a good go and we came 2nd so it wasnt all bad. OOOOO i do love that groom though
anyway, next tournament im playing my own horses
