I'm tired and a bit soggy and the Flora is...well....pooped! :p But we had a great day and I am so so proud of my girly!
We got invited back and madam far from disgraced herself (except for causing a few scraps early in the day!) She was very uncertain about what was going on on the first drive, nervous of the noise, the other dogs etc and wouldnt work at all! Although was still very obedient, second drive we moved through a wood where she started to settle and work properly (alongside the other dogs too!) Then we moved out and into some crop field and well then madam really got going...she was flying for the rest of the day :) So impressed with her steadiness (as were others). Very nice to see that on flushing she stops dead points the sky and looks back to me for a come or wait or continue (no rushing off after any birds) she did pretty much the whole day off lead, very pleased with that. She even did one crop cover off lead whilst the other dogs were asked to stay on because she was so steady! :D The best part of the day for me I have to say is sadly not alot to do with working really. We were waiting to start the last drive and two new dogs and owners came over to beat with us...Flora went up to them each in turn and wagged her tail and did a proper doggy greeting, no growling, snapping etc! She even wanted to play with one of them! :D :D
A good day had by all. VERY VERY PROUD MUMMY! We are planning to be out again in a fortnight...me and Flora anyway...I think Flora may be out next week but not with me (yep someone already wants to borrow her!)

p.s Your turn next Henry!

Good girl Flora!:) I just bet you're proud of her after a day like that:)

We are going to have to wait a bit longer now, I was all psyched up as well:rolleyes:

I'm bursting with pride :) Shes a good good good tired stinky girlie! :D Nobody realised it was her first time out, they all were asking at lunchtime what shoot we usually beat for! :p

I didnt even sleep last night...and I was nearly sick this morning! I was proper proper nervous!! :o Just think you can postpone those nerves for a bit! :D

It really wasnt too bad here RW, we didnt get wet until the last drive, we did have a powercable come down in the middle of the field narrowly missing one of the guns though!
Its a great feeling isnt it! :D

That's fab! And I'm very jealous of your steady dog! It will be a while before Purdey is let off her lead when beating:D
Sadly I won't be able to go beating tomorrow as I am ill in bed but my OH might take Purdey.
Well done again Flora - hopefully you won't be so nervous next time!

No I didnt, did I? Where? Your first day out this season? I saw em, did I not comment?!!!
;) I will take my old little digi camera in my pocket next time, my phone is shocking, I did try take a pic of her between drives being a socialite with the other dogs (cos this is major major proud mummy inducing stuff when your dog is an evil fire breathing slutwhore!) but it was just a blurry mess :( Really wished I had a camera on the way back in the trailer too, she made a bed out of straw (she shredded 1/4 of a bale) and then curled up with a spangley pants who asked politely if he could share her nice bed, they looked very cute! :p :D

Oops, maybe you did :o had a rather stressful evening, my brains not functioning :D

Otto loves the straw in the wagon too, reminds him of his stabled days!! Shooting brings out the socialite in them all, Otto managed to refrain from attacking other dogs retrieving, which is huge!!

Whoop whoop good boy Otto! Flora has never been so social. I was getting worried when after taking the opinion I was going to leave her to it and work out the dont start fights with other dogs thing on her own she promptly nailed a flat coat, 2 cockers, 2 springers and one poor lab about 3 times  She is thankfully all mouth and no trousers so did no damage and then must have decided it was all a bit pointless and nobody gave a stuff so didnt start any fights for the rest of the day! Its the same old thing with her, she will stand, sit or work touching another dog but woe betide them if they dare to try and say hello or look at her! Anyway, the leaving her to it seemed to work. I was very very pleased to see her actually wagging at other dogs for I think probably the first time in her life by the end of the day! She has a few mates we show with she gets on well with but MOST other dogs are a no no still as far as she is concerned.
