Yea saac needing a home and poorly pony

Put fennel seeds in the food, the smell is irresistale horses will eat it and it tastes good and is full of other good stuff and also helps with bad tummys. Really worth it. Give it a go.

The horses and cows and lambs will get on fine, they will keep away from each other they are all herbivores after all.

I second both of these points :)

Hi, just an update.

Thank you all for your advice I have taken it on board and tried what I can.

I managed to acquire some barn space on saturday, or rather turfed a few cows out!
He has now been in since sat lunch time, feeding regime includes having had a weeks course of charcoal however vet advised due to tests all being clear of bacteria not to continue any longer. He is getting the Heamavite B PLus and Proexin.
I am struggling to get him to eat anything at all due to him sulking so have reduced amounts and OH is giving him extra throughout the day.

He also has a full body lycra rug to go under any rugs as needed to help prevent sores.

Unfortunately there has been zero improvement in his BM. I have liaised further with the vets and we are now going to carry out a rectal biopsy on wednesday with some make shift stocks on the farm. This will hopefully give us a difinitve answer. The problem will be if it does come back positive IBD/ Tumors the treatment is steroids. Steroids are now not an option for him as he developed a grade 5/6 heart murmur, was miserable and v lethargic with the last course and I will not risk that happening again.

I will update again when I get the results of the biopsy.

Hi, just wanted to say thank you so much for all your time, vibes, suggestions etc.
Oscar's results are in and have come up as inconclusive. The only option available was a high dose of steroid and no turnout for at least a month and see if that has an effect. That option may work if it is IBD and not tumors. Spoken to my vet and he basically said its not fair on Oscar to try that and he would have very little quality of life based on how poorly he now is. Unfortunately he is going to be PTS on wed.
To try him on steroids now again would either kill him due to his condition and the heart murmur that develops on steroids or keep him going until the end of summer. Neither option is fair as much as I want them to be.

Completely eating me up inside and no idea how I am going to get through this. His is my best friend and such an amazing special animal that has fought with me, loved me, protected me and been there through everything. The least I can do is ensure he does not suffer unduly any longer. He will always be there and I have an amazing pencil drawing of him, a lovely scar with plate and screws from Nov fun in the field, a beautiful bracelet from his tailhair and a lifetime of memories. He will always be 'my sexy amazing man'!!!

Sorry for ranting I just need to get this down somewhere. It is like I am an outsider looking in!

Thanks again for your support it really has meant a lot that total strangers are willing to take time to try and help :o
