My pony has very bad sweet itch and also a history of gut issues. I used to feed him brewers yeast for the sweet itch but stopped when I started him on yea-sac to help his gut. His sweet itch is quite bad at the moment. Can you feed both, or, should the yea sac also be helping the sweet itch anyway as they're similar in some ways? I've tried to search online for answer but can't find one.

I think they are much the same thing brewers yeast is cheaper.

My Louis gets itchy I feed him niacinamide through the summer it definitely helps, it's basically the same ingredients in cavaleese which is a sweet itch supplement.

I just buy 150g powder from amazon and mix it in a 500ml bottle if water then feed 20mls a day, I start in march then through until October if its fairly mild.

The difference between the two is that one contains live yeast and the other contains extract of yeast (BY is a by-product of the brewing industry). Back in the day when I researched mucositis I did have a paper that studied BY Vs live and both were effective, as it's active compounds secreted by the yeast that help (so they don't need to be live!). Niacin (nicotinic acid) was one such agent - I forget the rest! You can feed both, to no detriment that I know of.
