Yea Sacc or Brewers Yeast or both

One or the other is what I have always done.

Yea sacc is live yeast, proven in cows to increase muscle and milk, more expensive but you only need 15g a day. Brewers yeast is proven effective in controlling gut inflammation in humans, but being already used for brewing it doesn't have the oxygen eating capability of yeasacc, which is what increases the effectiveness of gut fermentation. It's cheaper, but fed at 50g a day. It can also vary from batch to batch depending on what's been brewed with it and there is no guarantee that a new bag will be approved of by your horse.

Yea sacc is what is in all the gut supporting supplements.

There is a source of yeasacc which is the same price as brewers yeast (so much cheaper to feed because you need less) but the minimum order quantity is 6 20kg bags so you need to get others to club in to buy it.,

If anyone in the Macclesfield area wants a sack, I have one that I am not taking to my new house you can have for free if you pick it up.

Many thanks for that YCBM. I think I will go with Yea Sacc. Mare is on Lincoln 30 Yea sacc with Brewers Yeast in it but there is not much yea sacc in it. I have read that Yea Sacc Scotland is reasonably priced. As you say, these yeasts can vary from batch to batch. I am not in a livery yard just my mare and old pony so would not need a huge amount. Also I think Progressive earth sell it as well. Many thanks for your help.

Lincoln 30 Yea sacc with Brewers Yeast

I looked at that and thought it was just a marketing ploy to sell brewers yeast very expensively by adding a tiny amount of yeasacc.

Mine wouldn't eat brewers yeast, so that made the decision!

I bought from yeasacc Scotland and we'll priced at £9 for 1.5kg plus postage. I have a fussy horse and having less to add is better but a friend has a horse that won't touch yeasacc but will brewers yeast.

. these horses are all so different aren't they with their likes and dislikes. I will contact Yea Sacc Scotland I think.

Hi all, reading this with interest as I'm wondering if I need to feed both, but what I was wondering is dosage of yea sacc, from what I can see normal dose is around 10 to 15g daily per horse, but I just got my 1st order from yea sacc Scotland and the label says 50g per day. Does anyone feed this much yea sacc? Thank you.

Is the Scottish stuff pure yea-sacc? Because that's a very high dose if it is. Recommendation of pure yeasacc is 2g per 100kg bodyweight.

As far as I know, it says yea-sacc on the label but not much else other than to feed 50g. I think I'll email them to ask.
