She's not so itchy now so we think it's probably sweet itch

Sounds likely, getting a decent sweet-itch rug on her early in the year before the season starts, and religiously using a good fly repellent will go a long way to making her more comfortable

Deosect is very good, and doesn't need applying daily. Otherwise, I use Powerphaser
