Yearling filly.. SCANNED IN FOAL!?

Poor girl :( a bargain indeed :(

Are my eyes cheating me though or is there a three year old colt as few adverts below for sale at ten grand?

Not my cup of tea or preference...I wouldn't breed from a 3 year old at all/put a 2 year old in foal, but, equally, one's I've known, right from mares aged 10+ who were bred from that young, have had no ill effect from it.

But again. NOT something I'm a fan of. I like them to be babies first.

It's awful, although I did see one ad which said:

"This is a heartbreaking sale of a very much loved horse so no time wasters, dealers, dreamers or numptys!"

^^My kinda advert!! :D

There is a youngster advertised on DD thats been there for a while the ad says something like

'has a limp when he walks but when he runs you cant see it'

oh, thats ok then

:(

Actually I quite like those palominos, they'd make a super driving pair, and that 3 year old isn't a tank, he's just FAT!

:) Now, a genuine question, is Dragon Driving actually the owner of all these ponies, or is it just a site for this type?

As there is a fee I am presuming the latter. If it is the site then why is everyone getting their knickers in a twist about it? They aren't responsible for a yearling being in foal, or the other DD bashing things that I read about - or should they stand on the moral high ground and refuse to advertise broken two year olds etc, etc?

Mind, they get excellent pubicity from HHO don't they? Absolutely no need to advertise in the magazine ;)

DD is a classified ad site so lots of ads from all kinds of people on there

There are a lot of nice looking/sounding equines on there, they arent all bad by any stretch of the imagination but DD does have a reputation for attracting the not so responsible owners

So really, if you, and to quote a cliche here, "know your a*** from your elbow" you could actually do worse than starting by looking on DD?

Oh for sure, lots on there where the animal appears to have been wrecked by its current owner but with a bit of tlc could be a very different horse I am sure

My pony came from there but I did rule out a lot of ponies and speak to some real idiots before I found him

After unknowingly buying a yearling who was in foal and after worrying about what was going to happen, I was right to worry as she had the worst foaling ever foal got stuck when vet eventually got it out it was dead.
Then she could not get up as the nerves in her pelvic area were so compressed we nearly had to put her down in the end I got the fire brigade to come and lift her and had to keep her up for several days before allowing her to lie down , once down had to make sure she could get up, we spent an entire week sleeping in field with her so she did not panic first of all when stuck and then when being unsteady on her feet we couldn't put her in stable in case she got stuck.

The vet say's most of the problems were because it was such a big foal probably a very big sire and she just was not physically mature, apart from the £800 vets bill the stress for all involved and the loss of the poor foal I could quite frankly throttle anybody who is stupid to do this to a youngster, it is just irresponsible and pure stupidity and greed.

Least you see what you're getting, rather than it being a seemingly 'normal' horse which ends up had been doped or otherwise [for say one of similar type on any 'other' classifieds site. HM/HQ/HD etc] ;) Get the good and the not so good on every site!
