Yearling ready for showing (and colour qu)

No she looks silver but its very unlikely, and im not sure of any past generations having silver..just lots of buckskins and reds!

Stallions tested Heterozygous Cream, Black, Red and Agouti and mare is not tested but pretty certain there is a lot of agouti and red as most of her grandsires are chestnut lol

She is growing in a few red hairs now, but also a lot of this whitey colour too. The bars down her side look like ribs if you don't know where her ribs are haha!

There is today (shes also getting plump!!!) you can see a very distinct red sheen to her neck and back

This is a great grandsire, with some funky colouring going on

And further pedigree research shows there is silver on the dams side but like...6 generations ago

Fixed pic i hope?

If shes anything like her parents, she won't need clipped again as she will keep her short summer coat and look better for it. All i had to do with sire and dam was clip the muzzle, bridle path and heels and neither were rugged in summer either. So fingers crossed. Shes pure american, so a lot less tendancy for a stupid coarse thick coat!

What's the reasoning behind parking out, Equi?

They look nothing like miniature Shetlands, do they? Tiny horses, not ponies.

Crugeran celt you can't say she isn't something then not come up with an alternative :) I've seen quite a few pics of palo foals recently who were very red at birth that I honestly couldn't have called either way!

equi, fab it will be amazing to see her when her coat comes through pretty please? Mum almost borders on being wild bay in phenotype with the restriction of her points- many more educated than me would say not quite, so not as much as true wild bays but they also tend to be that body colour too.

There is a super minis colour person on a fb group I am on but I know her first response will be to request unclipped summer pics!

Its something that is fashionable to make them appear to have a flatter croup (as a lot of minis have a bum high tendancy) which makes them look more horsey. Its slowly coming back to square and less parked out, but a lot still have it in their training...Frankly i didn't even ask this mare to stand, i was hot, shocked (at just getting double champion) and not remotely ready for a photo but mare did this hahahah!

It also helps hide some shocking conformation faults in the back legs, which this mare doesnt have. But shes american trained and older..so just the old fashion i think

Yeah there is not much point looking until her coat grows back in, i think i was just so shocked to see how much pale hair was on her underside! Could still just be foal fluff i guess.

I can't come with an alternative sorry I don't know what colour she is just don't think she is a standard bay, that doesn't mean she isn't some other fancy bay though. Gorgeous no matter what colour she is.

Ah, I suspect we have some confusion, when I say bay I mean genetically, that doesn't account for any shade/fanciness. Bay comes in many varieties but essentially as far as we know so far they are all the same genetically.

Just some more pics from today, to keep you all in the colour loop. Cause its fun. Lots of the red hairs i expected coming in, but some random "white" spots too lol

Latest photo - has been suggested there might be some sooty going on?

I am a sucker for a dun. She must carry the dilute gene and is 'dark dun', which is genetically not a true dun. Genetics is so complicated, but what ever colour she's lovely and loved.
Looking at her tail, perhaps the silver gene as well.
