Yearling - still got long wintery hair?

Hi,

my yearling welsh D colt, has still got some long strands of winter wispy foal hair!

no matter how much he is brushed its still there, and we are wanting to show him (the old long hair is lighter colour too)

do you think a light rug/fly rug will help just get those last bits out?

My 5yr old is still holding on to some of his coat too. Think is is this strange weather we are having.

How about using pair of scissors to cut them flat? You could try a rug as it might stick to it! Good Luck with the showing.

My connemara yearling was the same last year, kept some long hairs, we showed him and after being washed and then brushed down they didn't look too bad
Now he is 2 and has got a gorgeous coat this summer!
I wouldn't worry about it, unless he is getting upset by the flys the fly rug will most likely just make more hairs stick up!!

My yearling is exactly the same as well. Beautiful coat on her neck and bum and wispy foal fluff on her tummy!

My 28 year old has a furry fringe along her belly. Normal for her so I don't worry about it. It will come out when its ready.

There are still a few bits hanging on in there on the babies, especially, to my annoyance on their noses Apollo, in particular, looks like he has the most awful roman nose! (No offence, I think they are very noble - on the right head, but not on a Quarter Horse!)

Apollo almost shed out, and it's taken some work, he's been curried every day for weeks and weeks. I am pretty sure he has had a massive growing spurt too as he didn't seem as tall as he is now all winter.
