As title really, my filly Still has most of her winter coat. I bred her so I know she has been wormed well, but she is quite scrawny and a little dull. She has also had a few bouts of what could well be mild colic although she has good gut sounds and responds well on a dose of bute. She had another of these episodes yesterday and having just moved house I had to find a new vet pronto! Again, good gut sounds, colour and heart rate but obviously not happy, responded well to painkillers and is fine today.
Anyway, new vet has taken bloods to try and get some insight but I wondered if anyone here had any ideas?

My shetland has still to shed the last of his winter woolies. i got him in March in he was poor, with dry hard, infrequent poo that obviously pained him to pass. I started him on fast fibre, mare and youngstock and cherry showshine chaff. Now he is fantastic, poo is 100% better, weight gain, shiny coat and much happier outlook on life. Just a little fluff still to lose and off to his first show next month.

Blossom is on d&h mare and youngstock and speedibeet, have just got some linseed and fenugreek to put her on too. I dare not chuck too much food at her tho as she had 'ballerina syndrome' as a foal as she grew too fast for her tendons. Some superb work from my farrier saw her through this disaster but vet at the time said to cut back her feed to try and steady her growth. It's not just a few furry bits either, she has lost her legs and under her neck but the top of her neck and body are still thick and furry!

I was told fibre and more fibre for the bowels and vit and mineral supplement if thought neccesary. Is she on good grazing? if not i would go with plenty of fibre in feed and hay/haylage and a good vit supplement. Linseed is excellent of coats. Perhaps try one of the feed companies helplines. I groomed my boy loads to help get out the dead coat and bathed him once a week. He does look like a different pony now. I did worry that he was backward in some way.
