Is there a cure for this - well I suppose many would call it a disease, I would call it an everlasting perculiarity?

Unfortunately not !
i want a career with horses and alot of people (even horsey!) say to me 'it's a hobby! it's a hobby!'
well no it is NOT! Yes for some it is I admit, but for me it will be all I ever know :o
Since quitting sixth form early (so i could do a horsey course at college this september) i don't want to socialize, or go out ...if it's not going up the yard I don't want to do it :o

Oh crikey:eek: I sat on my first horse 45 years ago, I have actually had horses for over 40 years now.

I am now going to go back to my corner and rock gently (with a big glass of Chivas)...where did the years go?

I thought at first that the question was ownership of horses...in which case the longest I've had a horse for has been 12 years.

Pmsl, makes you think eh ! Make mine a southern comfort and ice, we can rock together :D

hehe :D sorry. it does say over 20 years though!

For some of us "over 20 years" doesn't quite cut it.

Mum had horses and ponies when I was a toddler, I'd plod about on the ponies for fun with my sis. Have loved it ever since!! So really, I have always been "into" horses for as long as I can remeber. Finally bought my own boy 4 years ago as a birthday present to myself...

.... I'm 30 tomorrow!!!! Wonder what I should buy myself this year!! :p

Ah rubbish I voted wrong !!!

I saw the since I bit at the top and went for 1-5years as thats how old I was when I started riding haha- It should be over 25 years !!! lol god I'm old

Also your title is years of ownership but the question is different ...

Mine is the same horse for 32 years
It doesn't do to add up how much he has cost me over that time. Especially when he takes my work jacket off the fence, paws at it, then grinds it into the dirt.

*Joins Enfys in the rocking corner*
*sneaks away the Chivas and tries to look innocent*
*fails*

I think what made me feel old was the exclamation mark after '20 years' in the poll...

mm yes...i meant how long have people been into horses, i think the majority got the drift

Nearer 40 years than 20 (much nearer, lol!)
I think the wording of this poll tells us more about the age of the OP than anything else!:D

how so
i do feel a little mean about the exclamation mark on over 20 years but i wasn't expecting lots of, er, 'senior' horsewomen or to have been into horses so long.

Oh god, i'll stop before i get a bashing!

I've been into horses since I was 5 or 6, so I ticked 11-15 years (am 20 now), but I only rode every now and then as a kid so I'd say I only really started riding properly when I was 17. Have owned horses for two years now. :)

Good idea!
It's a good job you're at the other end of the country from me!
(Sorry, would have used smilies but they seem to have stopped working - and they're all in different places from usual)

mwahaha!! :D:D

not to worry, i plan to be into horses forever so one day i'll have been around them as long ;) you know what, i don't know how to phrase myself properly without people assuming i am calling them old. *zips lips* :D

Another oldie here:) First rode and owned a horse about 37 years ago. A long gap for various reasons and have now had my boy 9 months.

The disease is so catching that we have a new addition for my husband 2 months ago (who rode friends horses as a teenager.... Again about 35 years ago)

Actually that makes us 2 oldies :D

Well I am glad that I am not the oldest. First sat on horse aged just 18 months he was called Toffee. Got first pony aged 12 so that is 38 years 5 month.
