Yellow Wee

Hi everyone, first time in this section. I am concerned about my boys wee. It is very yellow today. He weed in his usual spot, on the walk back to the field, same time same place haha. I am feeding him with a tiny bit of chaff, mashed carrots and 50g of biotin and lots of garllic. The only new thing in there is the biotin for this crumbly hooves - could this be the influence?? Thanks.

I don't think biotin affects it, as my gelding gets 50g of it, and his wee didn't seem to change colour and be yellow?

Why are you feeding mashed carrot twh? Is he elderly? Tooth problems? I know that beetroot can dramatically turn your pee mauve - I wonder if the same is true of a diet high in carrots? It may only have shown up now after a high enough loading of carrot colour. I'd try him without the carrots for a few days to a week and see if there's any difference.

Could be the carrots if you've recently added them and noticed the change. Otherwise any chance he could be slightly dehydrated?

try adding apple juice to is water to get him drinking more!

My horse has thick yellow wee sometimes. Vet said nothing to worry about, dont know what causes it though.
