Fell off Molly wednesday ...Not mine or her fault especially..She went up to a jump, faltered, I pushed her on and she cat leapt over it just as I lost my stirrup.
Unfortunately for me, I suck at landing properly, so somehow landed on both my hip and my arm? The hip pain has also spread all over my behind area and cant put any weight on right arm ( ie push myself up if sitting on floor). Think I'm okay, my mothers a first aider and stuff....
Such fun. Molly looked round like - wth are you doing there you idiot?
Oh well. I fall off Molly everytime I jump ( it seems).Anyone got any advice to stop her running out? She is such a pain sometimes. Like,I'll warm her up properly , put a smallish thing up jump, next time shy , shy, then she'll do it fine. Other direction ,add in anynew jumps and same thing. Shows are almost a no go area.

It gets me down that everytime we're back where we start. Literally , no progress. Her hacking is still on the wrong side of scary and I'm losing faith in me .....She's such a sweetie from the ground ,and good in ridden classes/pc flatwork rallies ,but say hack or jump and I nearly freak out.I know its me...shes only 6 , and only been backed for about 2.5 years, with a horrible past. But I cant deal with the 1 .5 steps forward, 1 step back. My Ym is lovely and helping with the hacking , as is my stable neighbour .But 2 of the liveries have "better horses" than I , and constantly feel looked down on.Especially one of the boys mother , who is a real pushy ,proud pc mum .Like
me- danny ( horse) looks good jumping today.
her- well, yes , hes a fab pony ,what can i say. when you get better, you'll be able to control a horse like him too.

aaargh!

Thanks for getting this far... Sorry for being pathetic :D

you could try putting a pole up at the side of the wing to stop her running out? if the jumps small enough you could turn her back to it and get her to jump from where she's standing.
I would definitely get an instructor to help. mine used to do dirty stops all the time.
hope ur not hurt badly

Hope you feel better soon!

Putting poles on either side of the jump is a good suggestion.

I was asked to ride a very cheeky pony who used to run out all the time with the kiddies :p What I used to do that worked really well and stopped him running out was sit tall and deep in the saddle (don't lean forwards till the very last second!), hold your hands higher than normal with a consistant rein contact - don't let them drop before the fence - as I find that's the que that will make a horse run out, and forward positive riding - not aggressive, just leg on and positive. If your horse runs out on a particular side, hold the whip on that side.

Hope that helps you :)
