Yesterday I lost my best friend :(

Like everyone else who has responded to your sad news, condolences for the passing of your lovely friend. You, and especially him, were blessed to have each other for such a long time and had so many happy experiences together. The loss never goes away, in my experience, but eventually you will learn to live alongside it. Memories of the good times you had together will come to mind more as time passes. So sorry. Be proud of him, and of yourself for giving him 25 years of love and good care, and that last kindness, a quiet death.

Hi J,

I am sooooooooooo sorry to hear this. I hope that you will start to feel less sad soon and remember the good times. I do know how u feel and its completely rubbish :-((((

Funny isn't it that a horse can become such a huge and magical part of your life. How lovely that you have been able to love your horse and I salute you, how many sorry people arent good enough to appreciate the wonderful creatures they are, I feel so sorry for them that they aren't big enough to love their horses. Well done you and I know that every tear is a well earned tear for a great friend.

I am so sorry to read this, you did him very well to get him to such a grand old age though. I have just lost a cat this evening and a friend told me something that she had been told by a communicator - "it isn't the same for them (animals), it is just like walking through a door ... " whether you believe in communicators is actually irrelevant, but I found the thought comforting. It doesn't stop us missing them any less though :(

So sorry for your loss. Don't rush through grieving...25 years is a hugely significant amount of time to have a cherished and loved horse in your life so please give yourself plenty of time to come to terms with him being gone. X

My old girl was PTS in October before the winter set in. Just as the vet said he was giving her final injection a ray of sun broke through between the clouds and shone on her head. I told her it was her devoted old pony friend who went ahead 4 years ago, opening the door and showing her the way. Animals don't question death, they just accept it and that makes them fortunate I think.

So sorry to hear your news. He certainly had the best 25 years with you :) as said before, remember all of the fantastic memories you have accumulated over the years. Someone once said to me they can't be replaced but they can be remembered :) all the best and thinking of you at this sad time x

So sorry to hear your sad news. You had 25 lovely years together and 31 is a great age! Time heals and those beautiful memories will be with you forever. Sending you hugs, take care x

Such a fortunate horse to be with you for almost all of his life. It's a terrible wrench when you have to say goodbye to them, I know, but there will be a day when you can look at a picture of him and smile instead of crying. Sending you my deepest sympathy and a huge hug.
