... I got a reminder that horses are pretty dangerous. Rosie was riding in the Ladies Open at the Cottenham p2p. She was at the third fence and had just asked for a longish one when the horse alongside swerved towards her. The next minute she was on the floor with a deepish cut in her chin and a crash hat which will have to be binned as the 'swerver' must have caught it with one of his hooves. The on-course doctor put those butterfly plaster thingies on the cut and today she is fine. In fact she's been up to the Links at Newmarket training on a different horse and can't wait until next week when she's racing again.
No reason for this post except to wish you all a Happy (and safe) New Year - and please, please make sure your headgear is up to the job and in perfect condition. I dread to think what might have happened to Rosie if her hat had been 2nd rate.
