I saw a local venue advertising a clinic with Parra. I put a link to the story in the comments and said I personally wouldn't be interested in a clinic with a horse abuser.

Well he'll be 76 when it ends so hopefully will stay away from horses. Pity they didn't give him a life ban od.going near an animal but 15 yrs is pretty hefty for the FEI.

I wonder what the response of the general public's impression of dressage (pretty, dancing horses) would be, if you stripped away the brilliant white breeches, top hat and tails, shiny tack, and gleaming, plaited horses and instead showed a scruffy horse, ridden by a scuzzy bloke in jeans, dealer boots and a football shirt, riding in exactly the same way as the shiny people?

Jesus. How hard to you need to whip your horse to make marks like that?Yet another rider revealed to have less than kind training techniques - obviously that's an understatement. He just came 27th at Burghley (not on this horse I guess), and appears to have a grant from USEF to enable him to train over in the UK. I despair.

It just doesn't seem enough for what appears to be abuse carried out over a long period. This wasn't just a one off incident, and there was evidence to prove that. I can only hope his reputational damage is enough to cause him to struggle to get horses to ride, etc. Sadly, though it seems that some people don't really care about the price the horse has to pay, if they get the results they want.
