.... and another learning curve!

Was in Section F yesterday.....

Totally and utterly exploded in fine style in the dressage warm up due to the playground full of screaming children! was very close to tipping me out of the side door on several occasions with her ridiculous bronchs and leaps and twists! Managed to hold it together in the test but the judge didnt like her at all and we got 38.5 for it which was pretty disappointing really as it felt like a 35 test

SJ really nicely for 1 down - gave me a fab round and felt fluent and jumping a boldly as ever which was nice

Onto the XC - 6.05pm
blush.gif
sun was really low and the first two fences you could barely see the sun was directly in line with them - Hattie set off really nicely and confidently, got to fence 5 which was a step down, one stride to a hanging log - she went "ok i do steps down" landed very short and then failed to make the one stride to the log and breasted it
frown.gif
really annoying as if id kicked on she would have been fine - youth and inexperience yet again
mad.gif
*kicks self hard*. Then she absolutely flew - felt like i was riding a mare who had evented all her life
smile.gif
she just galloped and jumped and took everything in her stride - corner, cart, palisade with ditch, trakhener (which she jumped HUGE - gave is miles to spare
blush.gif
) so so pleased with her
smile.gif

So yet again another bl**dy rider error, but my gosh Hattie is getting better and better with every run, the bigger and more solid the fence is the better she jumps
grin.gif
So S of E here we come - this time with a rider that WILL be 110% focused 110% of the time!

Thank you
smile.gif
i just keep reminding myself that ive had a cracking year this year and the step up to the next level is not always plain sailing - hopefully it'll make the good times when the eventually come all the more enjoyable when i know ive had to work for it
smile.gif

Well done - you have to make mistakes to learn
smile.gif

I was there yesterday with Cruz, Vicky was riding her for me due to collar bone injury! so was playing owner/groom!

Mum said she saw Hattie think she was on her way back or to the dressage, and she spooked at the a push chair or something, she said she looked quite full of it!
grin.gif

Sounds like a fab day
grin.gif

Someone I used to teach came 8th in her 3rd ever event yesterday - she's been placed in all 3 events ~is proud~

oh how did Cruz get on??

yup Hattie did some fantastic spooks at push chairs! on the way down to the dressage a lady was pushing a push chair with a sun umbrella up and Hattie just couldnt cope and darted to the left as quickly as she could!! the poor lady said "im so sorry my horse is exactly the same" and bless her she immediately took the umbrella down and Hattie calmed down
smile.gif
as you can imagine and was ever grateful!

smile.gif
i just didnt realise Hattie had worse hidden up her sleeve and "Little Miss Naughty" written across her forehead just in time for the dressage!
smirk.gif

Super duper super!! Was chuffed to bits with her. Good dressage, few down SJing but Vicky had only ridden her once and she got in a bit deep, and super XC considering she hasnt even done a hunter trial or anything!! She just had a glance off at the hanging log after the step up, just couldnt think quick enough I dont think, but she was cool in teh water, over the tyres, the drop etc etc!! very proud mummy!
smile.gif

Well done H!
smile.gif
Sounds like a fab day despite the blip at number 5.

Sounds like she knows the eventing game now and is ready for the XC when she's supposed to be doing dressage!

good luck for next time!!
smile.gif

bless her she came fairly onward bound into the trakhener and i could feel she was thinking "its a hanging log, its a hanging log, its a hanging log........................OH BL**DY HELL you didnt tell me it had a gaping bog and water underneath it" and she just leapt as high as her legs would allow!!
grin.gif

well done. That step causes so many problems. it is all experience and pn is soo much bigger than it used to be! the sj was also causing chaos!

Jump judging was fun today - we had 2 falls today at the pheasant feeder - we got sacked at lunch though!!!!!!!!! Was xc start ok?

Although I didn't see the actual test I can say that you did a very good job of staying on in the dressage warm-up! Some of those xc fences were a bit on the large side weren't they, definitely a much meatier track then when I did it in '05.

we were sacked at lunch time too!!
grin.gif
was really good actually - riders were all very well behaved
smile.gif
got a bit chaotic towards the end of the PN though as we had people who had decided to come over an hour before their time wanting to be slotted in and also those that had come bang on their time wanting (rightly so) so go at their specified time so it all got very complicated
blush.gif
but all the competitors were very kind to us and just patiently waited
smile.gif
all seemed to be in good spirits which was lovely - must have been something to do with the weather!
grin.gif

gosh - 12 ft of open water - ouch i think i might have been jet propelled into outer space if that was still there!! i swear they have raised the height of the log from last year!! it looked way smaller last year!

i think its a lot harder than it was last year too - Hattie went round it as a 5year old last year with someone else and it seemed a much kinder course - it just looked really beefy this year! There were some rather nasty falls in the PN this year
blush.gif

It was probably safest as we really weren't safe jump judges. I was more interested in having a good gossip!!!!!!!!!! Did get rather burnt! Did you get a good lunch?

I am one of those people who would try and get slotted in early!! sorry!

I didn't see it this year but I never find it rides as well as it should. But the open water used to ride fine! I remember when they first made it into a trakenher- I have some pics of my 16hh pony over it - he looks very tiny! Did you get some nice pics?

the backs of my legs are rather tomato coloured!
blush.gif
Lunch was rather yummy
grin.gif
munched my way through that way before lunch time
grin.gif
they were very good at tea and coffee rounds too
grin.gif

ahh i always see if i can slot in early too - it wasnt so bad when there was a lull but later when everyone came at once it was a bit hectic to say the least!!
blush.gif
grin.gif
i didnt get any pics because the one of me over the hay cart i was pulling a ridiculous face and they chopped half my head off !! and the other picture - Mum and i both agreed the fence was big enough to warrant buying it!
