So I Currently have a coming back into work TB who is a bit of a stress head at times. Im currently on Yard A but I am a little disheartened with it, no further ado the pros and cons of each-

A
Pros:
- The Turnout is next level, 12 horses go out on about 23 acres in winter, still mud around the gate but the grass is plenty. However dumbo still wants to come in at 3pm everyday no fail and will stand and kick the gate til he gets to.
- Its so quiet, you hardly ever have to share the school unless you ride at peak time. 12 horses but only 5 liveries
-They offer services ( albeit they bitch about it when you ask)
-Its less than 2 miles from my house I could quite happily walk there in the snow!

Cons:
- The Yard Owner is not a nice person, she is very two faced, and will bitch about other liveries to me, so she is definately bitching about me to others!
- Nobody seems to hack out! the Hacking is quite limited and I cant find any routes on my own, but its rare anyone organises to go out.
- They do morning turnout as part of livery ( they just open the doors and herd them out though!) and it causes H to box walk wanting to go out. and It means I cant keep him in because he destroys his bed.
- You can only use their straw, I hate straw, much prefer shavings. and you get charged extra for it
- I work strange hours and The yard is only open 8am-8pm, meaning a lot of the time I have to time visits quite carefully!
- they don't allow storage of trailers ( not a consideration at this exact moment but in the near future)
- they charge for every.tiny.thing. I pay to use the school, electric, hay, straw..

The other Option is Yard B, I have liveried here before-

Pros:
- It works out cheaper by about £20 a month
- The arenas are bigger and nicer
- when H was here he was pretty much a chilled out horse
- Opening hours are pretty much whatever YO is very flexible.
- The yard has about 30 horses and people actually hack out and go competing.
- The stables are much bigger! (14 x11 rather than the 10x11 he is in now)

Cons:
- The turnout is alternate days in winter, and the field does become a shoe sucking mud pit round the gate. But the summer grazing is excellent and they're only on winter turnout for 4 months
- No "proper" services offered but a girl on the yard will do services.
- Its 10 miles away

I'm not sure if I feel like a bad owner for considering moving away from the lovely grazing, he got mud fever badly at yard B, and did pull a few shoes off in the field. But just yesterday he lost a back shoe on the lovely grazing so.

Any thoughts?

I would probably look for C but if not I would be concerned about moving a stressy horse now to yard B if he will only get out every other day, he may have been settled previously but it could be very different moving back at this time of year, the girl on yard B may not cope if he is tricky, that needs checking, I would probably move once they are on summer turnout and hope he is settled by next winter if there is not an option C.

Out of the 2 I would say option B, however I wouldn't be moving my horse to either and would be looking for option C. All year turnout would be a must, and extra costs to use a sandschool? That should be included in the livery package!!

I was on a yard 8am-8pm and it was a nightmare, especially in Winter when I didn't finish work till 7.

If you had to choose from the two I would choose option B. I am on a lovely yard that does alternate days for winter turnout which I do not think is horrendous. It gives their legs a break from the wet and mud and then they always get ridden on their in days. If it means you and your horse will be happier in the first instance I would move ASAP
