After the somewhat disastrous Springston ODE (I fell off in the middle of the XC, not even at a jump, and badly sprained my ankle), we've been rebuilding confidence and looking for a small ODE to have a confidence-building XC round at. View Hill presented us with a nice opportunity although the only person I knew who'd competed there fell off on the XC and concussed themselves so badly they didn't know what the course was like. Not exactly a glowing recommendation.

Of course, it poured with rain. The dressage warm up was tight and there were a lot of small ponies which sent Fready into fits if hyperactive excitement but he settled when he was working around the outside and did an okay test. Unfortunately, tension crept in to the movements we've been working on, namely the walk and canter transitions, so I was a bit disappointed, but we were 4th after the dressage on 37.5. He then calmly and sensibly popped the show jumping with absolute minimum effort, and rocked around the XC without looking at a thing. I was very happy to finish 2nd even with a huge number of XC time faults (they obviously mucked the time up as no one was even close to the time....in a 65cm class).

No photos, but his two ribbons:

And some photos of Fready behaving badly. He's got such an unfortunate sense of humour these days. He's into *everything* and just wants to play constantly.

(And then he flipped the wheelbarrow over and tried to pull the wheel off).

We're off show jumping at the weekend (I even got brave and entered in the 90cm class which I....will probably wuss out on) and doing our first show hunter.
