Well, for those of you that know my mare, PBA, meant to have been sold, isn't, has small sarcoids, generally a bit 'individual'. I'm now 99% sure that apart from one patch of skin that has tiny sarcoids, the rest of her lumps and bumps are allergic/protein reactions.
Her skin...Well on her one shoulder she has loads of tiny little bumps, that swell up and go down usually depending on heat, sometimes they errupt a little pin like head and it will eventually drop off and go away. Then she also has her sarcoid patch on her flank (all on the same side, other side is totally lump free).
The lumps started last winter when she was rugged, a good few months in, and were on the side of which then, her long mane lay (it's now hacked off within an inch of its life just incase), she also did loose a bit of condition too.
So, how would I go about testing this? She has one scoop of pasture mix, one scoop of chaff, her sarc-ex powder and a slice of hay per day, oh and acess to a mineral lick if she wants. Her pasture can be dry at times, but is good when we have a bit of rain. I need to know what I can feed her without the reaction, as obviously she has to have her powder for her sarcoids.
Also, has anyone had the skin test done? What happens, what do the results show you and how much does it cost?
Come along gurus, I know you are out there!
