Well, from deciding not to look for another one last week spotted him in horsemart today and fell in love. He is only 2 mins down the road, and he is a perfect sort for me to have a bit of low key fun on and for OH to learn to ride on.

Only problem is he is obese apparently and only been back in work for a couple of weeks after 18 months off due to his owners serious ill health. He hasn't been out and done anything, he has just been used as a happy hacker. So this is making me think he is slightly over priced. A friend has said she thinks he is worth more like £2500 but just wondered whether you very clever folks on here like him and think £3500 is the right price. It's only my second time viewing a horse and I'm rubbish at haggling!

Thanks

He looks a super sort, but yes think £3.5k is a bit overpriced. I think he would fly away for £2.5k though, so maybe he has been put in at that price to ensure a good home.

Can't remember if it mentioned tack - with tack and rugs then £3k would be a nice price, but he is up to weight and a decent height, so if he lives up to the advert then you might have to cough up a bit more!

Oh he's totally and absolutely gorgeous! I dunno - I think the asking price is ok. These sorts of horses are worth their weight in gold and as long as he's correctly described, I'd go for it.

It sounds to me like they don't want to sell but have to and so have put a high price on him. If you live so close that they can keep in touch you might find that they'll knock a bit off. Tell thm they are welcome to visit any time etc. A bit of charm to make sure they like you and to let them know that the horse is going to a good home can make a huge difference in situations like this. My friend took £1000 off her horse as the family he was going to were perfect and only down the road, in fact she sees him every day as she has drive past his field to get to our yard!
