and boy was it emotional!!

For those who don't know, YO was the one who gave me Ned...it's almost been a year!!
She moved away (far far away, a different country!) and I missed her like mad. I was at her riding school for years, since I was about 9. When she moved away, it broke my heart. I knew the yard would never be the same again and it wasn't. It just wasn't my 2nd home any more, not without YO.

Anyway!

She's home for a few weeks for a visit, so we arranged for her to come and see Neddy.
I was almost dreading her seeing him, in case she thought I wasn't doing a good job or was upset about him being lame, but to my relief she said he's looking lovely and settled and she is thrilled that he's doing so well :D I told her about his vet visit on the 17th and she thinks it'll be a good outcome :D :D

She loves my field and is glad we're both happy now :)

Now - the emotional bit...she was sorting through her stuff and found Ned's bill of sale. Instead of throwing it out, she thought I would like it. It really touched me!

It says he's 14.2 and 8yrs old lol! No, he was 15.1 and 7yrs old :P
She paid the princely sum of 610 guineas, he was lot number 17 and it was 18th jan, 2008.
I feel like I'm welling up and I don't know why!

Thanks :D I really hope it's good news, when YO called (he still knows her call, bless him!) he came trotting like a dressage star over to see her! He was really striding out and neither of us could see a hint of a limp or stiffness :D

Oh what a lovely person. and to keep the bill of sale for you. just a lovely gesture and hey a good omen?lets hope so :) x

She really does have a heart of gold. I don't think she likes to let on that she's a sentimental person, but I know different ;)
I'm lost about what to get her for Xmas though! She loves hand made and personal stuff from me, because I'm usually the only one who bothers to put a lot of thought into gifts..

She sounds lovely, how nice to read about someone who so obviously cares about their ex-horses.

How about decorating a horse shoe with ribbon (like a browband), and you can buy tiny little dried flowers that could be inserted where they look right. Ribbon is easy to buy and there is a huge choice of colour/texture. Possibly you could spell out his name in diamante at the bottom?

Ooh some fab ideas guys! Thanks :D

She loved Ned dearly and still does, though I might make her a necklace/bracelet of her beloved horse Louie, who was PTS earlier this year. She actually already has a Neddy hair bracelet ;P hehe

It's a habit of mine now, even if they're not mine (I do ask though!) I take hair from horses who I love who are sick/ being PTS.
