I had an Amazon packet to return and the Amazon returns process arranged for this to be done via Yodel . I printed labels off, arranged collection for last Friday and left the clearly labelled package on the doorstep as per, as we were at work. We live in a rural location, out of sight of the road and this is our normal practice.

We get home to find same parcel on front doorstep, but a large 1m x 1m x 1m (18kg) box has been taken from the front of our house instead. A card was through the letter box saying.... sorry we missed you, etc.

WTF!

Online tracking of parcel number says it has arrived at Yodel Hub last Friday afternoon and was dispatched again that same evening. No further info known. Have been on the phone to various Yodel departments for over 4 hours since Friday night. Have gotten nowhere. One staff member has just said to me that there's no proof their driver even took the box from our property and "How do you know it was anything to do with our driver?" Ummm.... your online tracking??!

Anyway, what on earth do I do? Who do I report this to? I guess, technically something has been stolen from my property. No one knows where it is, or is admitting to having taken it. I simply dont know what to do. Call the police and report a theft?

The contents of the box incorrectly taken by Yodel is around £200.

Have you spoken to Amazon about it? They are normally pretty helpful? Otherwise I would perhaps contact trading standards and ask them for advice?

Amazon can't help. All they've been able to do is arrange an alternative courier to collect the package that I need returning to them.

The large box that has been taken from outside my house only has my name and address on it. Not sure why the Yodel courier thought it was for him to pick up as there was nothing on the box to suggest this, nor was there a recipient address on it except mine (the collection address). No one knows what he's done. One guy said that because the package was logged as coming into their Exeter depot on Fri afternoon and then as dispatched out again 2 hours later it must have had some Yodel info on it. Something the courier driver must have stuck onto it, presumably. But basically, no one at Yodel has a clue. You're put through to department after department, each one as clueless as the next.

Do I call the Police and get a crime reference number? All I know is £200 worth of my property has been taken from my home and no one can tell me where it is or if it will be returned. What do I do? I'm pulling my hair out as I need that delivery back. Pronto.

Hmmmm.... seems I am not the only one P*** off with Amazon and Yodel. I am p*ed off with Amazon as I pay £49 per year to be a Prime customer and this is NOT the first time I've had problems when they've used Yodel for my deliveries/collections. Mainly Yodel deliveries not turning up and their online tracking stating that delivery was attempted but no one was home and this being utter rubbish.

This new scenario takes the biscuit though.

Anyone know where I can get advice on how to handle this sitution? Police? Citizens Advice?

Ok - you have proof that Yodel collected something which was the wrong thing and has your name and address on it. They will have had a collection docket so it should either be on the way to the other package's destination or floating in their system under that package's code. Go via saynoto0870 and get through to yodel head office or an area manager.

Thanks :)

I'll try that.
