Feel awful - noticed today a hard lump just under his knee on inside of leg. No heat, no lameness. No idea how long it has been there, but I think I would have noticed it before

Had a SJ clinic on Monday & I'm pretty sure it wasn't there. Day off yesterday but he was hooning round the field so maybe he did it then.

Since he's not lame how much time should I give him off? Or should I just light work him? Poor boyhorse

Same happened to me the other week - no splint one day, splint there the next - Ned hasn't been lame and have kept him in the same work with no ill effects. It was very hard (calcified) immediately.

Vet took a look at it yesterday when he was out to give jabs and said all was fine, it was defo a small splint, despite the way it just appeared and just to keep an eye on it. If he showed no signs of lameness, then I didn't need to worry about it.

Blummen annoying though, guess that's his showing days over until he learns to jump well enough for workers

Hmm... will maybe call my vet for a chat - supposed to be jumping on Sunday. Having said that he must have been getting it for a few weeks, given that it has formed a hard lump already.

Might take it easy for a while. I'm lucky though he's not a show horse - that must be a pain!

Might be advisable - not sure if jumping would be more of a no no.

Isn't it amazing the way they just appear - I always thought that splints took their time arriving and forming. I was amazed at such a hard lump having appeared overnight!
