I have a gorgeous mini Yorkshire Terrier. He's 3ys old. He has a dog flap which he uses for number 2's and most number 3's. However, when it rains the little so and so pees on the tiled floor in the utility room. Ok so he doesn't like peeing outside in the rain, but with the weather lately, I've been clearing up puddles of pee daily! When it's dry I have no problems with him. Is he just being a lazy little monkey and do I need to wipe his face in it to discourage him?

I did think it's because we have no grass in our garden so he can't ever find his scent? Waddya think? Shall I buy him a piece of turf for christmas

Please don't wipe his face in it, that is as much use as a chocolate teapot. Does he always do it in the same place, in a set time frame? I would watch him (not stand over him and stare, keep your distance), and when you see him starting to circle, preparing to pee, pop him outside swiftly and praise when he goes there.

This is a very common problem in dinky dogs, I would keep him within your sights so when he does go to squat u can correct him and place him out doors and offer him a reward, i.e don't let him in any other room when u are in except the room u are in at the time, and maybe introduce a dinky crate or cat carrier type crate to teach him to hold again when u are not here to correct him, otherwise he will keep it up, he clearly thinks it's a new acceptible place to pish at random

My Yorkie is exactly the same - a right wimp about going outside when it's wet! He also doesn't like to walk on wet leaves or long grass! Well unless he's on a walk when he has a different personality entirely!

Fortunately we have another dog so if he catches her scent from where she has weed he will wee over the top of it. Otherwise he skulks at the door and scuttles back inside at the sight of rain. If the weather is really bad I just accept it, he will use newspaper at the back door rather than the carpet. It's just the Yorkie mentality, you can do your best with them but they only have small brains bless them!

How right you are about Yorkies. They are lovely little dogs though aren't they

I lurve mine to bits, he's the 2nd child I didn't have!

Does yours only eat when you are home? Mine is so funny, his water bowl and food is not touched, but when I come home from the yard or work, he runs to both bowls, has a little, runs to his bed for a little hump, back to the food, then back to the bed until I tell him to stop humping!!!! He's been done too!
