It's very nice:
Automatic electric gates, hard standing parking, two outdoor arenas, one indoor, food/drinks and covered seating area. The people running it are very friendly. The only thing I would say is that the new outdoor has a set of rain water pipes running down one long side which crackle as the weather pressure changes - sounds like a series of mini gunshots and I have seen two classes of Elementary and Medium horses all go loopy one after another. A bit of a shame really, but perhaps they have insulated the pipes by now which would have solved the problem.

Do they usually do the tests outdoors with indoor warmup?

They used to but I believe they have another indoor arena now and both warm-up and tests are indoors, I haven't been since it's been finished, hopefully someone can confirm/correct me...
Warm up is indoors and tests are outdoors, I think the noise in the pipes must have stopped as it has not happened recently. Surfaces are nice even when the old one has had a lot of rain the horses go well on it.
Its quite a relaxed place to go, and last time they even had a heater where people sit with for a cup of tea!!
Hmm, my source must've been mistaken or maybe I was dreaming - just as well I haven't managed to go recently as I'd have been very disappointed!
The last time I went was over 18 months ago and the outdoor was pretty puddly and then the next time I entered it was at the time of all the rain in 2007 and the comp was cancelled as the arena apparently resembled a swimming pool and all the surface had been washed over the fields!
I heard they had planning permission for another indoor but last time they went they had another outdoor.
It is a nice relaxed venue. Last time I went my mare found it quite spooky as they had just put the surface down for the new outdoor which is right next to the indoor. The rubber was bouncing up and hitting the metal wall of the indoor making them all spooky. Hopefully it will have settled by now though.
I have booked myself in for sunday but not 100% sure I will be going.
Little Mare, Ive not seen you out and about for ages, hope everything is OK.
