I really like the look of the yorkie and really fancy one, however, i see some i think look really bonny and some not so much, i realise you can get tea cup yorkies which are smaller but some look different to others in different ways. do some have alert ears and some droopy as this seems to make them look different? Is it best just to ensure you see mum and dad to give you an idea what the pups will turn out like? thanks.

Can I just point out that whilst I totally agree about seeing a pups mum it is not always possible to see the dad. My latest GSDs father is in germany, of course I could have gone over to see him, but was happy seeing photos, and I knew her breeder very well. When I was breeding GSDs I only once had a litter by my own dog, to improve my lines I used dogs from as far afield as Scotland, therefore prospective purchasers couldn't see the father when they came to see the puppies.
With regard to yorkies, I think they suffer a bit from any small long haired black and tan terrier getting called a yorkie. I am sure there will be yorkie breed rescues, or if you want a puppy have a look at breed society websites for approved breeders. Good luck with your search.

I have a Yorkie, he was a rescue dog, and he is the centre of my universe! Yorkies sometimes get a bad press as being yappy and bad tempered. Mine is so affectionate, just like a teddy bear. Everyone falls on love with him, but they can't have him - he's mine

Yes you're right, some have pointy ears and some have floppy ones. Mine has floppy ears. Also mine is quite big, a natural size, you can get toy Yorkies, bred to be miniature.

Agree wih you Murphys Minder re seeing the dad is not always possible but always see the puppy with the mum... too many are purchased over the net from puppy farms... and that must be stopped...

Yorkies are brill dogs... I had one - and I still miss her to this day.... she was a tiny but she held her own... Twiggy will remain in my heart and thoughts always...

Dogs are moulded by the way we teach and train them... its down to us the owners......:)
