You can't have just one ! How many do you have?

We had 4 when we moved to our own land. We now have 3 - only one is part of the original herd. But in between we have had 5, twice!

It doesn't matter hwo many you have from the pov of being tying. You have to be there to feed one, so you might as well be there to feed a dozen.
OP, I will NEVER have another livery - no benefit whatsoever and loads of downsides.

I spent 20 odd yrs asking for horse, santa never brought me one so eventually I got big enough to buy my own, damn me if a yr later my mum didnt go and buy one so now I effectively have 2

The main reason I have 2 is so we never have another livery either - nightmare!

Just the one but I live in a flat so unless I put horse on balcony I am stuck paying out for livery for the foreseeable future! Have been horse hunting for a second albeit rather half heartedly since winter hit- but the 1 horse is on full livery at huge expense at the moment- quite glad the second horse has yet to materialise or I'd be seriously on the breadline! OH has bandied about the idea of buying a place with land- I think I'd be lonely though having horses on my own- I love the social aspect of the livery yard and chatting to everyone! Has anyone moved from livery to your own place and found it not as much fun?

I have 3, and two liveries in, it doesnt matter how many you have, once you can afford them, and the workload doesnt stress you out. I had 6 in 3 years ago, all mine. Financially, it was ok, but mentally, by feb, I was so stressed out from mucking out 6 stables every day, I said never again. Liveries are DIY, so still only 3 for me to do. All good. It's so easy to accumulate horses. xx

Six at home. I always had 2 at my parents then 2 on livery....a third snuck in. I bought my own place and went mad basically. If I want one I am having it!!
I have several horsey neighbours so do hack out with other people but do like nothing better than a relaxing hack at one with one of my brood.
I do have a spare stable...but...it is full of rugs, rugs and more rugs. So no more for me.....

Out of pure interest, those that have had two or more horses, on DIY livery, with full time work, and possibly kids, how on EARTH did or do you cope?!!

Started with dependable riding cob. Took on rescue gipsy cob. Rehomed rescue when well again. Took on rescue shettie mare from desperate plea on this Forum. Too late, realised shetties need careful management so took on companion rescue shettie from local Rescue Centre. Riding cob retired. Bought new riding cob. Took on miniature shetland rescue from local Rescue Centre. Couple nasty riding accidents, discovered I don't bounce so well any more so sadly given up riding. 2nd cob put out on loan. Bought new mini show shettie to stay "in horses". Bought 2nd mini show shettie. 2nd riding cob out on loan diagnosed with permanent damage to pastern, comes back off loan. Buy 3rd mini show shettie. Total horses/ponies = 8. My password for about a zillion things is now hopelessly out of date!!!!
