Thought we could have a fun thread for such a lovely evening!

What are your faveourite equine smells?

Mine have to be:

1) new leather tack (I work for a well known leather handbag brand but the smell just isn't the same as tack!)
2) freshly opened haylage
3) horse feed (when it's all mixed together and preferable with garlic in!)

I'm sure there are many more!

Hoof oil. I could sit and sniff hoof oil all day... (I also love the smell of tarmac being laid, petrol stations and helicopter fumes, so I might be slightly odd about things like that!)

Horse's necks. When you bury your face in their neck/ mane and cuddle them. That smell I love too :)

I agree with the smell of leather and haylage

cut grass, it's haymaking and I can smell it when I walk out of the door.

also, the smell of a horse when I stick my nose into its neck while I'm having a soppy cuddle.

I love the smell of a hot horse!
Haylage
& the smell my yard coat has which is (I am sorry to say) a mixture of horse sweat and poo! :o

lol lolo, cross posted with the neck thing. I was having a sad and sorry for myself cuddle with one of the horses the other day and was inhaling her neck smell, really cheered me up :)

I love the smell of mown grass but can't stick around for long to take it in as my hayfever tries to kill me otherwise -_- yet haylage doesn't get me half as bad!

For me it has to be saddle soap, sweet smelling hay and garlic (I'll admit that when cooking at home I always have to smell the garlic shake to get a horsey fix :o )

Horse feed with garlic in...mmmm.

Hoof oil - Lolo, I'm the same about petrol and tarmac!

Haylage fresh out of the wrapper.

Horse breath when they've been on the grass all day.

Sudocrem! I think it smells nice but it's never used for nice reasons (preventing sunburn, and minor cuts etc).

Leather.

Yep they still make Bloom shampoo but it doesn't smell the same sadly.
Personal favourite whiffs are;
Glycerine saddle soap, gallop shampoo, hoof oil, cornucrescine, freshly cur or steamed hay, new leather in a tack shop...the list is endless!

Alfa A! Not sure if they all smell as good as the molasses free brand as that's what I get, but me and my friend stood with out heads in the feed bin smelling it.. :o

Citronella fly spray!

Good quality sweet hay :)

Just that fresh, grassy, flowery smell out riding

Used to love the smell of horses, but since having my own I think I've become immune to it! I can't smell it any more :( disappointing.

I feel awful saying this Shen you think about what it is but... the smell of the farrier burning shoes onto a hoof, fresh grass, and most feeds😀
