ok, brief intro to 'set the scene'.
currently have one horse, he is ridden every day (as in seven a week) at 4.30 am because i work from 7/8 until 10/11 pm.

after work he gets turned out while i shower and then comes in for breakfast and has a snak-a-ball. he loves his ball and is really quite quick at emptying it.

he has it to keep him 'busy' now he's on his own.

anyway, today i steal away from work early to put him to bed at a reasonable hour (6.30pm) and find him looking VERY proud of himself and i cant work out why??!?

i turn him out whilst i do his stable and i cant find his ball anywhere.

so, i go to change his water (he has a corner manger bolted to the wall) (i'm sure you can see where this is going)

there is his ball, floating in the manger. i have NO IDEA how he got it in there, it has no teeth marks and no way of picking it up without sticking your finger in the hole (so to speak

)

i can only assume he decided it was too dirty and somehow (???) managed to roll the thing up the wall!

i love my boy - he never seases to amaze me! x

And I thought I was nuts being in the saddle around 6.15 to 6.30 am all year round, hacking my insane 4 y o out by moonlight & schooling in a dark field, not being able to check my diagonals / strike offs cos it was too dark... (yes I know I should be able to tell without looking...)

Hats off to you!! I will now remember your example & feel v feeble when I think about 'ducking out' of riding with a feeble excuse...
