You know what annoys me...

People who leave the yard wheelbarrows out by the muck heap ..... The muck heap is near the parking area, so they take the barrow out on their way home, tip it and leave it there. Can't be bothered to talk a few yards back to the barn and leave it in the right place so someone else can use it. ....... GGRRRR!!!!

Lots! People who use their horses as armchairs while waiting around at a show; if you're not actively riding, get off and give the poor thing a break. Riders who use tack they don't know the use of and don't know how to fit (martingales in particular).

And when they sit around in the warm up ring having a chat and getting in everybody’s way.

Is this constrained to horse related / practical irritations?
Can I say Alan Sugar, Karen Brady and all the Apprentices ? Just because Mr Reacher always watches it and I cant bear it.
PS my former farrier has a magnet on a wheel that he rolls around to hoover up any nails

... possibly out of all proportion?

Farriers who leave nails all over the yard. And people who don't sweep up after their farriers. Grrrrr.

What gets your goat? (Please don't say "people ranting on the internet when they should just have a word with the person or person responsible " )

1* When service people leave fag ends on a yard, when there is a sign on the gate saying no smoking, especially after the arson fire in the livery stables two weeks ago.

2* When people lie right to your face - an do not do the job they are being paid to do.

3* When people Use you and will drop your friendship like a stone when they got what they want out of you

4* When liveries do not respect a public tea room and leave it in a state so others do not want to use it.

People who leave the yard gate wide open.
People who borrow my knife and don't put it back (don't mind it being borrowed, as long as it's back on its hook when I need to use it)

I know this one and then puts the knife in upside down in the sheath, anyone wanting a good knife these are amazing and so sharp. I know when someone uses it as they cannot work out which way to put it back in,

For those wanting decent knife for shavings bags and feed bags and cutting twine these are Fantastic and go through plastic like going through butter.

I'll bet it's these same people that leave shopping trollies abandoned in the supermarket car park!

It's winter... so everything!

People who pick out feet on the yard and don't sweep up
People who let their dogs play in the straw and don't sweep up
People who request to use a hard standing pen, but don't provide hay or water
The same people who don't poo pick the pens after their horse has been in one all day.
People who do provide hay in the pens, but don't rake up any spillage which ends up on the ground
People who CBA to check to see if their horse has water (or not) in their paddocks.

I'm so ready for it to be summer again...

Oh, and another!
The lady who goes out dressaging, but when she doesn't get placed it's never because she needs to work on xyz. No, the judge was harsh, the others were all pot hunting, the arena wasn't just to her liking, the wind was in the wrong direction...get my drift?

Lateness!!!

There is an instructor who is constantly late. 35mins late today and 17mins late coming out. Someone was waiting for her slot at the gate for those 17mins. It's a rule that you must stick to the times you've written on the board, as it can impact others. Her slot was 8-9am, not 8:30-9:17! And someone is paying £35 for the pleasure of her schooling her horse! We can all forgive once or twice, but this is at least 3 times a week.

Surely no instructor can be that good? That said, if I had to use such an instructor, I would be tempted to book an 8:30 to 9:30 slot, and tell the instructor that the time starts at 8:00.

I suppose I'm lucky to have only little annoyances in my life at the moment.

In no particular order

Again, somebody left a hay fork in a barrow full of hay. The tines were pointing upwards. I've lost count of th enumber of times I've seen a novice lead a horse towards the arena, and got too close to the hay barrow. As soon as the horse notices it, his head is in there.

The instructor forgets that when the wind is blowing and I'm going round the arena at a fast canter, and she's calling out instructions, I can't hear her. My big ears seem to catch the wind; all I can hear is a little muffled voice and a lot of whooshing sounds.

The car driver who doesn't stop at the pedestrian crossing, even through it's night time and I've been sweeping the crossing with my powerful torch on strobe setting; I've been doing that from the car being perhaps twenty meters away, and me being perhaps four meters away, yet he still drives on through. And for that, he gets a pebble on the windscreen or a tap of the torch on the rear quarterlight. I've never yet had one stop after the loud CRACK noise, so I've not managed to break any glass yet... I'm seriously thinking of getting a paintball marker, if I can find one that doesn't look enough like a real gun (getting shot by the army on anti-terrorist duties would play havoc with my schedule).

The bus driver with forty standing passengers in the bus, who accelerates and brakes as if there was a daily competition among the drivers for who could have the most passenger fall injuries in a single trip.

Somebody in the house moved a bag containing a bunch of cut-offs and scraps of leather and also some of my leatherworking tools. Specifically, all of my needles. ALL OF THEM. OK, both packets, and I've broken a few over the years. Oh, well, it's an ill wind that blows no good: I knocked off work at 16h45 on Thursday and went over to one of my supliers and bought a packet of every size from 1 up to 3/0 and a bobbin of brown 832 thread to repair my saddle. €70, though. Ouch. I shouldn't need to buy any more needles for a long, long time. Sad so see that the needles are now made in China; the two packets that have disappeared (bought in about 1990, IIRR) were marked "Made in England".

Can I add another? Thoughtless drivers on the road out of our yard!
Our yard lane joins a main road, unfortunately, about 5 metres from our lane is a very busy lane joining the main road also. This makes getting out at rush hour an absolute nightmare as the traffic is busy and constant on the main road as it is and you've also got people joining from the busy lane.
Fortunately we have a pedestrian crossing about twenty metres the other way, so if someone presses it, you can usually get out once the traffic has stopped.... unless some selfish idiot stops right across the junction, even though they can't go anywhere. The majority of my road rage and swearing is done at that junction every morning!

Kids with ponies who do stupid, thoughtless things and then blame the pony. An example from yesterday : kid on the yard leading her pony into the barn. The doors aren’t open wide enough for them both to fit through but instead of opening them wider, she keeps walking, presumably expecting the pony to slow down and let her go through first. Pony keeps walking too and kid gets walked into the door. Kid responds by shouting at the pony and jabbing it in the gob. My friend and I who witnessed it made a couple of ‘suggestions’ regarding her future conduct, but I think she’s at that age where she knows everything. Shame, it’s a lovely pony and she doesn’t deserve it.

people who hang haynets with the knot in the wrong place I find it really difficult to untie haynets with the knot on the string at the top and through the loop once they have been pulled a few times they are so tight you cannot undo them. the strings should be pulled through to the neck of the net leaving a clear run through the part tied up

people who push their way into your life then dump you when something better comes along

people who have owned a pony for a few weeks and think they know it all

Yard workers telling you with glee your horse got kicked in the field because he was annoying the other horse and he deserved it...so you didn't stop to check if he was ok at the time and you're not asking me now?
