you know when springs here when..

All the birds look like they have white tashes where they are collecting up all the (tonnes of) spare hair from where I've taken the shedding comb to the boys!!
 
OOOOORRRRRR your really grumpy of late, 28yr old mare sees you and come galloping across the field to say Hi, when the 3yr old slowly wonders over see what all the fuss is about!

So nice to see her so full of energy again the last couple of days!
 
When you're frantically trying to find where you stored the SI rugs, grazing muzzles and fly spray over winter!
 
Your poor neddy is covered in large lumps that must be insect bites even though he is still wearing a turnout rug.
You also go home after a vist to the yard for a shower covered in same itchy insect bites and try to remember what it is you like about the warmer months.
Horse hair galore is everywhere including your usually pristine work uniform, your OH's work shirts, the kitchen (and god forbid) seem to be migrating everywhere to inside the fridge, the bathroom and in your usually hygenically prepared work lunches and dinners.
You find there are large and scary looking flying and crawly things in your garden and garage that scare the living daylights out of you and require the services of a brave man to dispose of.
You sweat lots.
You have washed and packed away your thermals
Your realize it's time to go shopping for a new and fashionable pair of sunglasses.
And god, your legs are very hairy and pale. You need a good razor and some fake tan pronto.
Why is it that your horses legs are less hairy but your own seem to be like mega mohair stockings at this time of year???
 
you are so covered in horse hair it looks like a fur coat ,and then you start worrying that an animal rights protestor will hurl paint on you.

A history lesson . Did you know that Alexander the great sent someone to the queen of sheba to wax her rather hairy legs. She was so outraged she cut his head off.

When they leave the hay you have lovingly laid down for them... in order to forage for these things called "green shoots".

My field's gone from desert like sparseness to a rich green practically overnight, haylage is just getting picked at and I haven't seen my pony lift her head up from the grass yet. :mad:

Haven't been bothered by flies yet, but it's been really windy here, and there's one solitary swallow in the stable poor thing.
