You can call Farmkey on 0870 870 7107 as see if her freezemark is registered to them or there is Freezemark on 01295 690090 they should let you know what age they have registered for her, and then you will also be able to change ownership into your name.

thanks ill give them a ring now :) x

Thanks for coming back and updating us. She looks a million times better already and I'm sure with her new regime she'll continue to improve in leaps and bounds. Nice that you could get a little bit of info from the freezemark people, that was a good idea Scally!

I was just about to post a reply about the freezemark but I was pipped at the post. I bought a lovely old pony for my daughter, many years ago. I got in touch with Farmkey and asked if they could forward my name and address to the previous owners. They came over from the Isle of Man several times, to see him and gave us lots of old pics and information about him. Sadly we lost him in 2000 and lost touch with the family too. That pony was a real bargain, he cost £800 and taught my daughter so much. When he became ill, she sold his saddle to pay the vets bill and got £450 for it.

Such an amazing difference :). You should be so proud! Just look at her coat, all shiney :D, that shows just how must her condition has picked up :D. Keep up the good work :).

really well done :D what a difference :D
ditto the person who suggested finding a place with really good grazing and haylege for winter - might be worth moving her to help you out as well as from what i remember it was partly the problem with other horses at the field - am i right?
big pat on back though - you got a real slating when you fisrt posted and it was quite an uncomfortable read as some people were def verging on being rude rather than helpful - well done for taking on the good advice offered and doing the best for her :)

Oh she's not THAT old then!

its just that her back looks quite hollowed but I expect that once you get some topline built up on her she'll look brand new!

it's worth giving her as much hay as she can eat, particularly if the grazing is poor...

also, has she been wormed thoroughly since you got her? - particularly for tapeworm... if not, it will be worth you giving her a good double dose...

Well done! You should be proud of yourself for realising that you needed help and asking for it, and then taking positive action for your mare. Everyone needs a little help every now and then.

As some others have said, if you can get a plan for your winter care in place now you should both have a much easier time than last year. well done again x x

WOW!!

HUGE well done! She looks fantastic, I cannot believe the change in her!

I hope you feel amazing! What a turnaround. Beautiful mare.

That is wonderful news, I'm so very pleased for your horse and you, she looks so much better, however still a long way to go but at least now you can see the difference and appreicate the changes you make and how they effect her.

Keep up the good work. :)

Wowwww. I'll just echo what everyone else has said. Well done you. You didn't put two fingers up at the criticism - you took the advice and got on with it. You should be really proud of yourself. I didn't think it was the same horse - she looks really good.

Well done, she's looking much better and you should be very proud of what you've done with her :) as others have said, just make sure you're ready for next winter when it comes! x

well done you!! The difference throughout the pics is amazing!!!

I didn't see the original post, but echo what everyone has said as it sounds like you had it tough and rose above it to do a great job. :D

She is starting to look much better :) well done to you!

Have her teeth been done? Just ask vet/dentist would be able to give a fair guess at her age. I don't buy 19 at all I'm afraid, I think she has a good few years on that. Would be interesting to find out properly.

The Freezemark people can only tell you what they were told when she had the mark done which could have been before passporting.

The way that tail is set on could be arab though :)

I agree get her mane and tail tidied and it will knock years off her.

I wouldn't be lungeing or jumping her either, she has a way to go yet before she is ready for work.

Keep up the good work :)

i have arranged for the dentist to come out soon :) and i do believe she is 19, when i rang up they searched on the data base and said she had been freezemarked when she was 12months old which would make her 19 years old. :D
those picture make her mane look scruffy but i have tidied her mane and tail up and does look nicer then before when she was all scraggly :p

What a brilliant improvement - pat on the back for you! She probably lacks muscle so I would second the comments about slow work as that builds muscle.
One work of caution - upended tyres could be dangerous if a horse decides to veer of and hop through one. I know we humans do it as agility training but I have never tried to teach a horse to!

Seriously, you have done a great job.

Well that sounds believable then :)

Really you have done a cracking job :) Well done again!

Well done, and keep up the good work.

It is nice to see an update on her progress and look forward to seeing another one in a few months with her a bit more muscled. She looks brilliant though, and a lovely shiney coat!

She looks loads better although she could still be a bit porkier but that will come easily if you carry on and the improvement this far is really, really good.

Well done you :):):) x

If you want to PM me their details Dunthing I might know them. Im from the rock :D

If only everyone who came on here and took a battering like you did would do HALF of what you obviously have or listened to a quarter of the advice...

You should be proud of yourself. No, you should be VERY pround of yourself. I feel very happy for your little mare.

I do agree, dentist and good quality forage (grazing/haylage) and gentle exercise over the summer should set her up nicely for the winter. Did I say winter???
