Well done she's looking so much better. I'm glad you didn't let those horrid people put you off posting on here. I often wonder how you two are getting on. I could tell on the other posts you love your horse very much and just wanted some kind advice on what to do for the best. Thankyou for proving me right. Keep up the good work and hopefully next winter will be alot easyer for you and lady.

I agree with other posts about plenty of hay, teeth check and worming.

I would also take care to build up work gradually. As she's older, watch the ground and not too much lunging in small circles as this will be hard on her joints. I agree about getting her into looseish side reins though for muscle build up. Short and steady though. I would avoid jumping until she's built up.

What a transformation! You deserve a well earned pat on the back for taking the constructive comments and acting upon them and ignoring the unhelpful nasty ones and coming back after your beating to update us.

You have done a wonderful job to get her where she is but by the sounds of it she will need a close eye kept on or you could be back to first base in no time, but I am sure you won't let this happen. I took my eye off the ball a bit with Archie this spring and he dropped weight, it seemed pretty much overnight, and has taken a good while to put it back again and I am sure it can happen to pretty much anyone.

During the winter months, when hay is put out for all in the paddock, could you fence off an area for her to go in, so she gets a good share of the pickings? If she is out at night could you fence off of an evening and let her mix with the herd during the daytime? A girl at our yard manages her pony this way always as hers is prone to lammy but it seems to work well, she pops him in a paddock to eat his specially soaked hay and the others are fine about it, but they are given adequate forage themselves so they wouldn't try to break the fencing to get to his hay.
