She takes a poo on a hack and the sound of the poo hitting the ground makes her jump!!! You think she would be expecting it!!

Any other funny ones....

Aw bless! Mine has been known to spook at his own haylage - he takes a long strand and then can't work out why part of it is dangling and gets all jumpy! It's particularly funny when he's done it in the field and gone racing round to try and get away from it, when it's still in his mouth! The look on his face is brilliant, he genuinely thinks he is being chased by it.
He has also literally spooked at his own shadow.
Plastic bags are the worst thing though - the other week a livery walked out of the tack room with a bag as we walked past and I swear all four feet left the ground at the same time!

I once walked up the field with all the horses grazing. The wee highland in the middle suddenly farted, spooking himself, with a sort of 'whoaaa whatwasthat?' kinda face, which in turn spooked the whole herd and by the time they looked over to the highland for what the matter was he was happily grazing again.
Guess you had to be there...

You almost get flung into the side of a tree mid gallop. Don't even know what she spooked at

You fall off coz of a plastic bag, mid canter and get dragged around a field coz if you let go shed take herself home

You almost break your nose because another horses poo on the track is scary, mid gallop

Hummm I think there's a theme here. Good job she is retired now. Bless her

One of my horses spooks at the piles of hay in the field his been known to just turn and run and takes some time for him to realise that it's dinner.

Just finished a lesson so I had halted and was talking to instructor when my mare coughed and farted at the same time which made her spook and jump a few feet in the air, cue me and instructor killing ourselves with laughter and mare looking totally bemused.

Cantering up a bridleway with people walking down a footpath on the right with trees between the 2 and my mare spooking to the left every time she glimpses the people between the trees. Hacking companion at the time thought it was hilarious watching us zigzagging along.

she shits herself at her tripping over !

The farmer across 2 fields & a road has piled his hay bales in the field & she is just stood there snorting. It took me soo long to work out what her issue was, stupid mare ! :p

She takes fifteen minutes to be persuaded to go to one end of the arena because there's a terrifying looking horse lying down in the next field at the other end...

George used to spook at the poop scoop in the school, but could be persuaded to work round it. What he could not cope with though was if it disappeared. Now THAT made that area of the school akin to the Bermuda Triangle, and to be avoided at all costs!

He was funny that if there was a scary filler he would give it a wide berth. In fact several times I would go to do flat work in a dressage saddle, and end up jumping, because although the filler was uber scary, if you turned and rode at it to jump it suddenly it made sense, it was a JUMP. OK if it is jump it is OK, and then he would settle to his flat work.

My sneezes. Always dread feeling a sneeze coming on if I'm on board, she jumps about 4 foot in the air. My sneezes aren't particularly loud either.

Purple & people. 'bombproof' ISH spooks at purple things. Purple flowers terrifying, any other colour flowers fine. Purple bin bags are evil, any other colour bin bags are fine.

His other spook trigger is people on foot where, in his opinion people on foot don't belong. People at the yard fine. Marshalls and walkers on a fun/sponsored ride, fine, jump judges and spectators on an XC course, fine. Walkers on the tracks where we hack are monsters (think weeping angels from Dr Who) if he takes his eye off them they will get him !

Mine drops an inch when I sniff....everytime...until I do it ten times in a row, then she knows its me....until she forgets about 10mins later.

Oh my!

These are helping my sanity actually because my boy is incredibly spooky. The best one last night, sunlight shining through the indoor school onto the walls. Everytime his shadow came into the light he spooked.

We spook at other horses clearing their nose.
At me doing up the girth, especially heading out on a hack.
Patches of grass that are a different colour.
Big leeves
Gateways in fields are the worst!
Anything that flaps.
The Velcro on my gloves!!!!!!!!
Someone getting off their horse, when they land on the ground he jumps!
My god, the list is endless.

Yesterday morning, mine happily walked past a lorry with a crane fixing a street lamp, which helpfully let off its air brakes as we passed... but then got terrified of the echo of his own hooves further down the road... oh dear. :D

While leading along a road I snapped a twig off the hedge, this caused Moses to have a complete melt down............... Until said twig was shoved in his mouth, he ate it and now apparently snapping twigs are ok!!!!

You have moved sideways in nano seconds, and have no idea why. Possible causes, green leaf which is different green to other green leaves, patch of earth, possible mole hill, ear of corn moved in the wind, stone on the ground or our shadow.
Yet, 2 men, up a ladder hedge cutting with a loud cutter using a tarporline catching their trimmings flapping in the breeze - not a murmur. When they realised we were right there, they were very impressed with well behaved horse.
If only they knew!!

The scarey invisible things half way up the road that once coxed will happily walk past whatever it was... The bag of hay in the field which I use everyday (she usually has her head in it!) but as she had just woke up she was terrified about it. Bless her! She's utterly brilliant on hacks though.

When you are out for run (without horse) and shy at some sheep in a gateway lol.

This happened to me I was running and some sheep ran off in a gateway and made me jump. There's no hope for me and my horse!

Ned does a large poo upon leaving the yard - no issue
Ned seeing same poo upon return - WTF is that possibly horse eating thing in the middle of the road???!!! I simply must either rush past it, stop and sniff it (for ages to the point traffic builds up whilst she stands there transfixed) or stand rock still as its vision could well be based on movement like the T-rex

Al, the cob I used to have was very sppoky in hindsight! Went to SJ, bell went, he dicided that he just HAD to pee there and then, does the longest wee in the history of ever then stands scares himself by standing in his own puddle of pee and high tails it full speed into the first fence - judges were in hysterics! He used to spook at gaps in hedges/stone walls and piles of stones/rubble at the side of the road. We'd be trotting along on a hack and next thing I'd know - he's have his head stuck straight out at the offending object, nostrils flared, snorting, legs and body as far away from whatever was scary as possible - think thelwell cartoon.

Hacking out a friend's maxi the other day and he watched a pigeon go under a gate then spooked when the bird hopped back. Idiot nearly shat himself and leaped about 5 foot down the road.

Well, hacking down the lane this afternoon, single track, thick high hedges and we got level with the cow field. Cow's were obviously drinking and the water trough was re-filling on the other side of the hedge. Samuel decided the sound was terrifying (even though he's got an automatic drinker in his stable and a trough in his field so he's used to that sound!) so, he did some awesome sideways stuff, Cow's bolted at the sound of hooves clattering on tarmac which then prompted a secondary spook LOL.

Further on there was a thinner bit of hedge which horse eating monsters must be able to come through as that too was very scary, then on the next lane someone had the audacity to rake the verge and sprinkle very scary grass seed, then the pink car parked innocently in it's own garage was clearly a Samuel eating monster. A spook filled adventure of a hack LOL
