...you work 6 days a week, are exhausted but still clock up 14 + hours of ragwort picking within one week including out in the pouring rain...and still have only just made a dent in it!:(

The ponies don't mind as I've only had time to work them a couple of days this week:rolleyes:

your commitment is shown when....

When you ring up your experienced friend from the labour ward to make sure they remember to feed & turnout your horse. Despite having arrangements in place that she'd do it if I ever didn't turn up by 7am.
Being so ill you could lie down on the yard floor, but carrying on anyway.

You spend thousands looking into a sight 1/10th (just lameness) and lug him to newmarket for him to come out the box sound!

Scans clear so added to peace of him, and he wasnt cheep.

Still commitment though, spesh when the bugger takes 40 min to load!

You have enough horse feed and shavings at the yard to last at least a month, but the fridge at home has 2 eggs and a half open pack of bacon which frankly has seen better days.

Your horse has had at least 11 sets of new shoes since you last had any.

You sell your beloved Jimmy Choo shoes on Ebay so that you can buy a full neck stable rug, because she was cold during a particularly vicious winter.

I got up at 4am this morning to have a nice little hack before work - wrong!

I got up at 4am this morning but ginger monster didn't, it took me 1 hour to convince him to get up by which time I didn't have time to ride :(

spending the winter cold, soaked, hungry and tired sorting out the horses, while they munch at bulging haynets, warm and dry in their stables with thick rugs on, and warm water poured into their buckets so it doesn't freeze overnight. :o

Sleeping in the stable with sick horse or pregnant mare... I remember it all too well..
Your horse has more clothes than you.
Forcing yourself out of bed at 5am in the rain or dark in middle of winter to feed and water.
Spending hours soaking hay in middle of winter :(
Your horse has seen the quack and dentist more than you ever have !

Refusing to sell nag despite all it's rearing napping and generally not doing as asked as it looks lovely and behaves like a dream on a halter, if your going to sit on a naughty horse she might as well look pretty.

When you pass out from a migraine whilst mucking out your horse's stable and have to be lugged to A&E to spend night in.

When you stay at yard all night watching over your poorly horse speaking to vet in early hours when you wouldn't do this with your OH's.

When you worry more about blinging bridles than blinging items for yourself.

When you can eat your sarnies at the yard with dirt embedded under your fingernails and not a care about it.

When you get paid you go horse shopping rather than clothes shopping for yourself, spotting that rug you really want your horse to wear is far more important. LOL

I could go on and on....

You know your committed when....

Sleeping in the car at the yard because your horse isn't well.

Or sleeping in the stable because the new born foal cant feed on his own and the mare needs you to help, there is no point in going to bed as the mare calls when she needs you so you just lay in the stable under the haynets all night.
