I really cannot believe that the little cob type black and white mare I was brought by hubby that was supposed to be a very placid, rising 4 year old with a wire coat, 15hh MAX.... would turn out to just have gone 3.... so far she is bum high and at 15.2hh currently.... very clever, very quick little mare.... she is totally NOT what we brought but she is certainly a little star.

What about you guys ?

bought a gangly young lad who i was hoping to use for dressage..

first 8 months were a disaster..nasty, badly behaved and constantly grumpy. very on and off to ride.

now, he's finally settled in and will do anything he is asked, with a little coaxing if he's unsure. real puppy dog type horse. couldn't be happier at the mo.

I bought this for £150 a couple of years ago

Impressive Rhodders! You'd never believe it was the same horse.

We bought a 6 month old foal, to make 16.1-16.2, he was two last month and is already nearly 16.3! He's a smart horse in some ways, learns very quickly but he's also smart enough to keep trying something until he finds a way around it. Looks physically quite mature but still a big baby though.

When I went new horse shopping, my remit was to end up with a cob type around 15.2hh at maturity. I saw my Tedbert for the first time at 3 days old, put a deposit down on him at 8 days old and he came to live with me (with his mam until weaning) at 5 week old. We've been through some weird and wonderful growing stages....some not very horse like at all.....in fact he could of been mistaken for a yak! lol

With regard to his height....well he's just forgot to stop growing! lol His bum is now 16hh and his withers are 15.2hh and he's not going to be stopping there by the looks of things.
He's 2 now, soon to be 3 and here are a few pics of his short life so far.

Oh hell the yak stage! lol

Cheeky monkey in the tack room.

Mud magnet......i just despair with him! lol

Getting there.

Just last week.
