She is used to flat bred TB's, not WB crosses, having been in Newmarket for the past 2yrs and Kentucky for the previous 4. We measured H yesterday and he is 14.2 and 1/4 inches

at 9 months old - though technically a yearling now. I mean he's bound to be big right? B was 4 1/2 weeks premature and has grown to just shy of 16.2hh, her dam was 17hh and her sire 17.1hh, so it's possibly fair to say, that had she been carried full term, then she would have grown more. H's Dad, although only just over 16hh, has thrown a couple of LARGE horses out of 15.2's! Thoughts please.

whoa that is big, although a friend has a WB x Arab filly who is now around 14 hands and is 7 months old! Dam is 16.2, sire 14.3

also she bred a TB X Welsh, years ago, Sire 16 hands, Dam 14.2 and he grew to 17 hands

also this is going to sound so strange- she breeds wierd sized horses, lol but she had a pure Welsh A born in May 2005 and she only grew to 42 inches so she has now registered her as a minature, lol

Well he's wither high atm, by about 2 inches! It's his height that makes me want to keep him! I love big horses.

Well the pale palomino spotted warmblood is now bigger than her dam and sire - they are both 15.2. Her back end is up a few inches on her withers too and at 6 months off 3 years old, I thinks its a fair guess that she will carry on.

The stallion has thrown several 16hh out of a 15hh TB type mare, so we're expecting Ivy to at least hit 16hh.

I think Ivy was 14.2 as a yearling to 18 months so he is most likely a couple of inches up on her at that point so I'd think he'll be at least a good 16.2 at maturity but maybe more like 17 then!!!

Oooof! Definitely need the stepladder!!!!

Rhi was 14.3hh at 9months when I bought her and she was 16.0hh before Christmas(06), depending on feeding e.t.c I'm sure he'll make 17.0hh when he finishes up. Though Rhi's breeder is still convinced she won't go over 16.1hh.

The Cheesksters dam was 15hh, her progeny go like this:
Henbit gelding - 17hh
Henbit gelding - 17.1hh
Environment Friend filly - 16hh
Private Despatch gelding (we stood the stallion, was about 16.1hh) - 16.3hh
PD filly - 16hh
Most of her family are around the 16/16.2hh mark. One of her close relations was 16.1hh and had a 17.2 filly as a first foal (Fraam) - work that one out?

Hmm, I had the same thing, Filly out of a Nearly a hand mare who was 15.3hh by Jetset who is 16.1hh, she was over 16.1hh as a 2y.o (lost her as a 2y.o so I don't know how big she would have finished up) but the rope thing came out at 17.1hh.

All of our 2006 filly foals are 14.1 to 14.2 at the moment some feb born but one a may foal.
They are all out of 15.3 -16 hand mares by my 15.2 stallion so i wouldnt panic just yet.
I dont expect them to make much more than 16 hands.
We had one yearling 15.1 1/2 but she only grew to 16 hands and another 14.3 yearling who made 16.2 so who knows it depends how fast they mature.
Colts supposidly stop growing earlier than geldings.
