Any idea what this little baby bird is? It's very small.

Not sure what to do with it. My son brought it in from the back garden as it was sitting on our patio. We've 5 cats so it won't be around long if we leave it outside alone. We don't have a clue where its nest can be and can't see any adults about. Infact, I've got several bird feeders hung in the trees here but haven't seen anything small like this feeding. Several blue tits and great tits, but not these.

It seems quite perky but doesn't try to fly or get away when you approach it. Yikes, t's far too friendly for it's own good. Are they always like this???

I've popped it into our chick brooder until I decide where to put it safely. :)

Yup, long-tailed tit. You'll struggle to find the nest, they hang in trees, almost like wasps nests...teardrop shaped. Do you have a local wildlife centre you could ring for advice?

Yep, think you're all right :)

Have looked them up online and defo looks to be one. I'll offer it some bits of chopped up meal worm....

Are it's wings and everything ok?
I'm no expert but it doesn't look far off fledging at all so it might just be taking a while to find it's wings or has gotten a bit lost.
Can you put it in some bushes on the ground in maybe a neighbours garden away from your cats?
I'm afraid it's going to have to take it's chances really!

ETA - you can feed and water it for now, but you might never get rid of it :D

Its mother wont be far away and was probably teaching it to fly, please put it back where it was and sadly let nature take its course, mommy bird may teach it to escape the cheeky old cat.

It perked up quite a bit and kept escaping out of the brooder and flying to sit on top of our big aquarium. I decided it had probably been winded or something when my son found it earlier (it definitely wasn't acting 'normal'). As it was able to fly and was perky we took it back to where my son said he'd found it and when he opened his hand, this time it took off and flew into the nearby shrubs. Hopefully it'll be okay. Cats are in now for the night, so it'll have over night to find Mum/Dad and siblings and get itself orientated.

Thanks for the help and advice everyone. Fabulously helpful as always :)

Looks like an adult long tailed tit to me, not a fledgling (no yellow corners to his mouth and tail too long). You need to feed it mealworms ideally, from the pet shop.
