As most of you know - (because i was stressing out about it thursday!) - Archie and i went to Lime Tree Farm in Kington Langley this morning to do the Strada Young Horse 6Yo class.

After his performance in my lesson yesterday i wasnt holding out for much!! (he was a naughty little b*gger!!!). However i think the lesson wore all his naughtiness out

Got on him in the carpark and wandered over to the warmup arena which was small for him, but he was a saint, really nice and relaxed. i was last to go so it was quite quiet by the time we got in there. He warmed up perfectly - he couldnt have gone any better - did some fab simple changes and a really good reinback, so i started to feel a bit better - but did wonder if he was just lolling me into a false sense of security!!

i wasnt holding out for much in the test as its the hardest test hes done yet, and considering that 3 months ago i couldnt get him through a test without rearing it was a big challenge for us both.

Well, i needn't have worried as he was a STAR!! he didnt put a foot wrong and did the most perfect test i couldve cried

There were some fab horses in my class competing a few levels higher than us so i was just pleased he done a good test.

Went to look to see what we got and we'd WON!!!!!!

im SO pleased with him, he really was fantastic!! We got 8.64 which i understand is pretty good! The judge called me over at the end of my test and said he was fab, then she spook to me afterwards aswell and was asking all about him and saying how elegant and athletic he was!

These are our marks:

Trot - 8.9
Walk - 8 (his walk is crap!)
Canter - 8.6
Movements (or whatever its called!) - 8.5
General way of going - 9 !!!!!!

And he got the highest mark of all the YH classes

So we're off to contest the final now on 8th September. Thank you to everyone who was nice to me on thursday when i was having a wobbly about going, im so glad i did now!

No pictures, sorry!!

NNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO pictures and a report like that, you should be shot?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is a fantastic result, well done you - and Archie. I can imagine how pleased (and relieved) you are but - no pictures, that's a disgrace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a fantastic result. You must be over the moon especially if all the others are a lot more established at medium.

Wow - that's excellent!!!

Some of those others could have been out competing for a couple of years now so that's the only reason they're out at higher levels (clearly!)

Well Done - makes it all worthwhile. But no more I'm no good rubbish as you were just having us all on

i think he was too tired to do anything naughty and his good paces helped me out alot too!

I expect you feel even more excited about his future now and it proves that you are doing the right thing by not over producing him and pushing too quickly. It is the best feeling in the world when a horse you have produced and who has given you ups and downs finally comes together.

You know what to do for the finals now

When/where are they?

The finals are at the same venue - its their own league they do, but its affliated to BD. Its on 8th September.

You ride the same test again and 1st gets £30, 2nd gets £20 and 3rd gets £15 in each age group. Then the top 2 from each age group go through to the grand final and you all walk trot and canter on each rein together infront of the judge who chooses the overall winner and reserve champion - the overall winner gets £200, and the reserve gets £100

YAY!!! I am SO pleased for you! Very well done! See, stop stressing about how 'behind' Archie is... he's just slowly and carefully produced which is obviously working!

What a brilliant result a real testament to the way you're bringing him on. He's a clever boy being a saint when it really matters....
