I'm going to hopefully be taking my rising 5 Irish draught out to his first 'hound exercising' in 2 weeks. It's about an hour meet of just walking and trotting around the kennels. He's currently ridden in an Nathe loose ring and for me on my own I have control but he's not been out with 30+ horses before so I'm not sure whether I need something a little stronger then this very mild bit? He's not strong but very forward and likes to at times leap forward and this is on his own. I drag hunted all last season on another pony who rode in a snaffle and that was perfect for him but worry this nathe might not be the same. Opinions please!

Could you test how he feels in the Nathe with a couple of other people?

If he is used to company out hacking I expect he will be fine as the hound exercise will not be particularly fast and high powered!

Hope you have fun :)

I did a pleasure ride in this bit and he was as good as gold but we didn't have excited horses around us like we might have but he's a sensible lad so hopefully will be alright.
